Not gonna lie, I'm pretty nervous about watching Jalen his first 2-3 drives against FSU.

If he looks just as freshman like as he did the last 1/3 of 2016 I'm gonna get super nervous.

If he looks like a true freshmen in the 3rd and 4th quarters, then I will start eating a little bit of crow, and I might apologize to Teague and Huddie.

I'm hoping he looks great. If he can do what he did at A-day, in real games, then I'll be thrilled. I'm just apprehensive about how real that was. And anytime I read any reports of him not doing well, I start to expect the worst.

Here's my thing, while Jalen has hopefully improved (and I think he has, though by how much remains to be seen) the FSU game may not be the best indicator of his ability. It's the opener against what should be a legit top defense. Derwin James and Tee McFadden are studs, if there's not a lot of space (and against this secondary who knows) those balls are gonna need to be precise because a guy like McFadden has the length to really make Jalen's day difficult.

With what we return on the OL and at RB, I'm expecting Daboll to really establish the ground game, get Jalen into rhythm, but for the most part keep Jalen restrained until it's time to go deep off of PA.

I think the o-line will be considerably better than it was last year too. Skill positions will have no drop off. Everything around Jalen is as good or better than last year. Even if his physical ability isn't improved (which, by all accounts, it is) then his mental game will have improved with the experience and maturity of having a year under his belt.

I'm really not worried about the O, for whatever reason. The only real concerns I have are the FG kicking and the depth in the secondary.

You can't lose draft picks like OJ Howard and ArDarius Stewart and say that emphatically.

While there's lots of potential, only Ridley is for sure.

Fair statement, but we didn't really USE OJ like we could/should have, and I have confidence that at a position like WR, we can have R Foster or a FR replace the production of Stewart

I'll be honest...I'm nervous about this game. Our d concerns me, the fg kicker terrifies me, Hurts - well, I hope he doesn't Hurts on us. FSU is legit, athletic and have a great coach. Please, someone talk me off the edge. Thx in advance.

Some pussies up in here. Hurts had perhaps the best season any true freshman QB has ever had, led what should have been a game winning drive in the national championship, and people are worried. Which is dumb because pretty much every QB makes a big leap in year 2 as things slow down. And as for our D, we've only got what projects to be the best dline, best lbs, and best secondary in the sec. Kicking game is always a worry it seems, but we should be good in punts and returns.

Why is anyone worried about defense? I think this D has the makings of being up there with the best of the Saban era. Elite talent at every level.

Think my concern with the D is just losing guys like Allen, Foster, Williams, Anderson to the NFL... Not to say we don't have the talent stockpiled. Just feel like it's more than usual...

I think the defense will be fine unless we have a couple of key guys get injured. I would name the guys I consider "key", but I'm not gonna jinx em.

Nyqwan Murray is scary talented.
George Campbell is a freak too.

What scares me though is Derwin and McFadden.

Those two are goddamn monsters.

Y'all better show a little concern for Cam Akers. He will be one of the top 3 backs we face this year. Some had him ranked higher than Najee. If the OL gives him a crack, he could make us pay. This will be a good test for us. I just hope it doesn't go into the 4th quarter still a game because I have no confidence in our FG unit.

No team's running game scares me. If a team beats Alabama by running down their throat, then so be it.

But until then, nah.

Folks in the know are saying the defense is the last thing anyone needs to worry about.

Yep that's what folks said about LF every. Single. Year.

What did he get on Bama over 3 years ? 25 yards ?

I haven't seen anything showing me their OL play is significantly better. He will be hard pressed to run traditionally against us. I'm sure they are thinking use him in space. Which, is exactly what we want to do with Najee and most of our RB's.

Derwin and McFadden.

Ya know these dudes get all the hype especially Derwin James but Trey Marshall is most underrated football player on that team. Can really cover and is a force in run support. They are gonna miss him in the first half.
