Well, yes and no, as it depends on what you mean.

Bama's goal is to control the line of scrimmage in the run game and collapse the pocket in the pass game, which I believe we have an excellent chance to do both. However, the last thing we want to do is rush upfield overly aggressively and lose contain, thereby playing with only 10 or 9. Francois is the truth.

FSU's goal is to establish the run enough that they don't have to abandon it, and in so doing open up the play-action game. They want to stay away from obvious passing situations, as our rabbit rusher package might eat them alive. If FSU can find a way to stay relatively balanced and "on schedule" relative to the down and distance, we could be in for a long day. But if they stay in 2nd/3rd and long, we finna eat.

And they're apparently without their top two backup O-linemen.

Prevatt gonna be on GameDay

Edit, to add I think if francois scrambles he is gonna get hurt. I was watching last year's championship and deshaun took some vicious licks.

DF isn't super fast maybe about Hurts speed. But he has been known to get the 10-15.

I don't agree with that. They have some definite gamebreakers at WR. Just throw in the tape of Murray vs Michigan or Clemson last season.

I'm guessing they'll try and get him 1-on-1 down the field. If they can't do that I struggle to see how they will make plays on offense. Francois is going to take a beating and will have to be a magician on the run.

Great write up FWIW.

Geez! Who are they going to trot out there to play next week, the little rascals?

ETA: Saban should suspend Hand because it looks like we won't need him

I very much enjoyed his impersonation of a helicopter.

He can take a lick for sure. There were several plays last year where I said to myself " surely he isn't getting up after that one".

There are dozens. Depends on what kind of atmosphere you want.

If you're referring to Seaside on 30A I'd recommend Whiskey Bravo or Redbar.

I'd be surprised if Francois has speed like Hurts. Hurts can fly for a QB.

But that doesn't matter. Francois can definitely move well and take off with the rock. It's a danger for sure.

I'd be quite surprised if they didn't have some playmakers at WR, frankly. However, on FSU forums I noted a pattern of people calling for WR playmakers to step up, as if it is a need. A significant need.

Don't count on Francois getting hurt. If last year showed us anything, it's that his bones are fused with atomantium. Or mithril. Or something.

Dude's indestructible.

Francois is tough as shite. That dude took as bad a beating as I can remember a QB taking last year and he got up every single time.

This year he isn't, Hurts is faster and quite noticeably. He was running a solid 4.7 very high 4.6 before and dipped into the 4.5 in spring.

I meant the Hurts of last year.

Hurts worked his arse off this off season. Like DH2 pulling trucks and shite on Saturday.

Regarding Bama going into game one, I have only a few concerns.

1) I am still a bit concerned about our Oline. I don't believe that we have had a truly dominant oline in a few years now, although when Shank was in last year, we were pretty good. I think also that Kiffin's playcalling didn't cater to an olineman's strengths with all the east-west stuff, and of course when your QB is so young, the timing and communication is bound to be off a lot.

However, I think Daboll's system should fit better to what olineman want to do. Running downhill and throwing more off play-action should be all good news to our big uglies. I am cautiously (very) optimistic, and I think our recruiting on the oline has been as good as ever. Jalen being a year older is also huge.

2) Kicking. Put me in the camp that believes JK can get it done, and the last scrimmage was all positive. But color me concerened until it's proven we can hit the gimmies.

3) I wouldn't call it a concern, but more of a "I want to see it", and that is our team mindset. I expect it to be great this year, given how we ended last year. I expect us to be focused and hungry, but until I see it, it is a concern going into each and every year.

Other than those few things, I think we are absolutely loaded everywhere else. I honestly have no idea why so many folks say they are worried about our D. Why?

Seriously why?

Everyone says that we lost so much talent last year that we have to have some kind of dip. That literally makes no sense. Last year was last year. We do not have to replace Jonathan Allen. There is no position on our team called "Jonathan Allen". All we (the coaches) have to do each year is put a dominant defense on the field utilizing the players we have that year. We don't have to play the same scheme as last year, nor do we need the same pieces as last year. Last year was an entity all its own.

Additionally, there was a time when someone else played before Jonathan Allen did. And we could have lamented (many did) the loss of whoever that was. But guess what? The next man up was Jonathan Allen. And if you recruit like Bama does, we have lots of future millionaires jockeying for position to be the next man up, trying to earn those future millions.

In short, our D is absolutely loaded with crazy talent at each and every position, much of it experienced. We will be awesome this year on D, and maybe have Saban's best secondary ever.

And to top it all off:

Alabama's yearly ranking in Total Defense (ypg):

2016 - 1st (tied)
2015 - 3rd
2014 - 12th
2013 - 5th
2012 - 1st
2011 - 1st
2010 - 5th
2009 - 2nd
2008 - 3rd

And so you guys (some of you) can worry about the defense. I'll be over hear not wasting my time on nonsense.

It's hard to argue with the offense's success under Kiffin. But, I hated his style of offense. Maybe I'm just old. But, I'd LOVE to see Daboll return us to physically dominating the other team. And I like having a mobile QB, but the first thing I want a QB to be able to do is throw a pass. Hopefully they've improved the passing beyond the LOS.

I agree with your assessments on defense. As long as Saban is at Bama, and the recruiting stays the same, the defense will be one of the best in the nation. I don't expect much, if any, dropoff this year.

Brandon and Austin Allen have taken some pretty good beatings at Arkansas. I'm not trying to take anything away from DF.
