Yall crack me up......Were not secretly hiding Hurts nor is he actually the "real" backup. The hype snowballed and was incorrect.

Barnett will be our qb this year and will be a damn good one. Bateman will get his shot but I believe Barnett will take his place as our QB.

So much for insiders knowing what was going to happen

All you can reasonably ask of Boz and the other folks who see what we can't is to tell us what they see. I really appreciate Boz taking the time.

Saban explained what is holding Hurts back for now:
quote:

"What you have to be really concerned about is, is a guy ready to go out there and not just do things that he can do but can he run the offensive team?" Saban said. "The back's lined up on the wrong side. Is he going to put him on the right side? Is he going to be able to point out the protection right so we can pick up the blitz?"

There's no way Boz can see that at a practice and unless your inside info comes from Kiffin or the QB coach, your source may not be good at evaluating this.

At any rate, thanks Boz and everyone else to gave us 2nd-hand observations.

I appreciate the boost but I'm done with the info all together. People can't take it when 1 thing doesn't pan out.

This is the most "insider" post ever. Get something wrong, someone laughs at your expense, and then you rage quit the message board. It's like clockwork every offseason.

FWIW, I enjoy your info. But I find it funny how you're reacting now that someone isn't telling you how smart and great you are every other post.

Fwiw, I don't think that most are referring to you when joking about insiders. You never even said that hurts was going to start. You have always said that you thought that Bateman was going to take the first snaps, and you reported that Barnett looked bad in practice, which was also reported by other people that were actually at the scrimmages.

Nothing you reported has been proven to be incorrect. Anyone that is directly poking fun at you really just hasn't paid attention to your posts.

Lol best part is I'm not rage quitting the board at all just not posting info for people who are rude and disrespectful like yourself. I've been around a long time lol not going anywhere. Enjoy the season.

Let me post info and be run into the ground at my expense for your entertainment lol. You can keep that. Don't need any praise whatsoever I assure you.

What in the actual frick do you mean shite his pants 2 years in a row. He was freshman last year and didn't event play. This year he hasn't played in a game yet either.

Just becuase you predicted wrong isn't a reason to shite on him. He was highly ranked QB out of HS, Obviously he has skills or he wouldn't be at Bama in the first place. Coach Saban and Kiffin know what they're doing.
You're right. Wasn't really fair of me to say that.

I want everyone to know, that when Saban calls me this week for his pregame advice, I'm gonna tell him that the interwebz isn't happy with his decision making.

I don't think most were laughing at Boz in particular. Probably Stephen M. Smth, if anyone.

In any case it's crazy that the CEO of 247 went so far as to say "Hurts has won coaches, team at this point." That comes close to Saban's wording about needing one of the QBs to win the team over.

That got my hopes up.

It was a bunch of people who saw a very talented guy doing things in practice.

All the while ignoring this:

I mean, I don't want to say I told you so... Well, yes I do.

Hurts is going to be great. And if the other two guys bomb, he might even take over this year. But it's never ideal to start a freshman QB.

In fairness, QB was the main thing you and all the insiders were discussing and it wound up being the exact opposite of what your information suggested. Don't take it so personally though. Could just be that the open scrimmage was an anomaly and in other practices Bateman and Barnett looked better.

I've been thinking about what was announced yesterday and I may be wrong but I've come to the conclusion that Saban doesn't think we NEED Hurts to beat USC. Hurts is the guy, the only variable is whether it's against Ole Miss or against UT or maybe even next year but I doubt that last one. They will bring him along slowly with an idea of when they expect to need his skills to win. They probably do have a short yardage/goal line package for him now. But he's our ace in the hole when we need him. No way you keep the most talented guy off the field all year unless Bateman or Barnett surprise everyone and just blow up the next two weeks.

Guys, they don't think Hurts knows the offense and recognizes complex defenses well enough yet to start him. It's a pretty frickin defensible argument.

They clearly hope Barnett will take things by the horns. So do I.
