a dream hire would have been Jeff Tedford, but I think the Bucs just scooped him up.

Funny this thread didn't pop up after last years Bowl game.
But to play along - Kiffin or Mike Bloomgren (Stanford offensive coordinator, real young bright guy who is a Bama alum btw)

I think I am in on this as well...and here is why.
One bad play on offense and this team seemed to get stuck. A drop on 1st down or a poor run on 1st down, especially in the red zone, and the play calling seemed random, usually one that wouldn't work against the second down defense. When things went well, they were good. Whenever there was a stumble, the offense came to a halt.
Then there are the receivers. I watch other teams and when the play breaks down, you see receivers breaking to daylight. Alabama receivers become spectators when AJ was flushed out of the pocket. Is this not coached at Alabama? (The exception was Norwood when the was in the game.)
As bad as I hate to admit it, there wasn't a lot of talent on the defense this year. Worst D line in a very long time, and I thought some of these guys would become real studs. D backs, corners and safeties, was the worst in a very long time. HAHA had his moments, so did Landon, but as a unit the DBs were not very good. I for one will be glad to see Belue go. He was never a lock-down corner. But some of the blame goes to zero push up front.
So much to bitch about, so little time. Maybe by the fall our coaches with find a way to slow down the HUNH. If not, then 14 will not be a good year.

Kristen Saban could've called plays against that ND team with AJ, Eddie Lacy, and our OL....none of whom were recruited or developed by Nuss.

Paging Mr. Lane Kiffen
OK, I'll play along. Lane Kiffin? The same Lane Kiffin that, in a home game against Washington freaking State this year, could only get Marquis Lee...one of the most explosive offensive players in the country...27 yards in receptions, the longest one being only 7 yards? Who managed to get the ball into Lee's hands on running plays 3 times for a whopping minus-3 yards? That Lane Kiffin? That's the guy you want? What the frick for?
That having been said, sure, it's a message board, but I don't get into blaming coordinators. If Nuss really did cost us the aTm game last year, then I don't blame him for tonight. I blame the guy who rehired him.
On top of that, I don't blame Nuss nearly as much as I blame the players. If not for McCarron throwing two absolutely horrendous passes and Yeldon fumbling in the red zone...AGAIN...we win this game tonight.

Who took Henry out when he was on fire. Was that Nuss? Who had playcalling that had nothing to do with how the defense was lining up? Was that Nuss? Who has our receivers run the most predictable routes that are easily covered? Is that Nuss?
If not, please let me know who I should blame. TIA

How about his boss, who has veto power over every decision Nuss makes?
And again...why the hell would anyone want Kiffin? He was an absolute cluster frick as his own offensive coordinator this year.

I have no idea if Nuss or Saban made that call, but one thing is for absolutely damn certain...Saban could have left him in if that's what he wanted.

You figured it out now?

Doug Nussmeier is fricking terrible. Why Saban didn't take over the playcalling, I'll never know. He saw we were getting killed by the blitz, but we continued to pass. We should have done some screen passes. Go no huddle. Anything to get the pressure off our craptastic oline.
Nuss needs to go.
Nuss needs to go.

So, if Nuss doesn't go, then I guess that means you think Saban should go, right?

Who took Henry out? That is our normal rotation of backs. About play calls you realize Nuss just like McElwain and Applewhite before him calls two plays in most situations right? AJ determines whether we run the base play or the kill play.
Predictible routes? We run the same routes we run every year. Smash, Crosses, Box. Again I don't know exactly what you are wanting but Saban isn't going to abandon the Earhardht Perkins system. The only way you scrap "our offense" is to scrap Saban.

do not want kiffen. even if he came in and did a great job, he would leave the next year because despite all evidence to the contrary he thinks he should be a head coach. so he would be gone again as soon as he could. also, hes pretty likely to get you on probation

I don't think Saban needs to go. I think he needs to give us back that two million raise. I think he needs to realize his weaknesses in offense and get somebody in who knows what he is doing and let him do it.
We didn't "take what the defense gives us". We were random in our playcalling, didn't adjust to the blitz. We just kept doing the same things that were not working and expecting different results.

That basically sums it all up. Our philosophy used to be "Take what the defense gives you and they'll eventually give you the game." That is now a distant memory.

Someone please tell me for a fact Saban is not involved in the play calling or did not take over. Easy to point the finger when you do not know. I am saying Nuss is great or not but Saban wears that headset and knows everything that is going on.
No matter how the play calling on either side of the ball goes the blame is on the HC, especially for last night. Our whole staff got out couched by a team that came to play and a staff that prepared by watching tape and knew where our weaknesses were.
