Is that really controversial? He clearly was. After him you had Cyrus and Minkah.

And he clearly is our best corner this year.

Minkah is a great playmaker, but Marlon is the shutdown guy.

I think he's finally starting to get his due, but it amuses me when announcers act like Minkah will be the guy who has the assignment on the other teams' stud receiver.

NFL scouts are presumably paying more attention than the announcers.

Disagree. Cyrus was better imo.

Marlon is getting better each game.

Some of you may remember how high I was on Marlon during the recruiting process.

I think he was way better than a RS Freshman had any business being in Saban's scheme. Last year he was good, really good, but I'd say Cyrus was a little bit better.

Marlon this year is going to be shutdown though. As good as CJ became, he was never that shutdown guy. I look forward to seeing Marlon take on some of the great WRs we have on the schedule.

Marlon is gonna be special this year, along the lines of how the old corners such as Kirkpatrick and Milner used to be.

Humphrey and Fitzpatrick are going to be the best DB Saban has had at Bama.

I agree...he's one of the few Bama corners in recent years, maybe back to Milliner, that consistently looks back to find the ball...and he's got great catch-up speed...

I love his game. Phenomenal run support. Great initial burst. Good size. Nice ball skills. Return ability. Competitive spirit. We better enjoy this year because it will be his last in Crimson. First round yo.

Marlon was good last year, and could be great this year, but Cyrus was the best corner on our team last year.

How about that hit that Marlon put on that RB though? That dude had probably never been popped like that. Was awesome.

Cyrus was battling the studs though... And made the big plays in big moments. Marlon looked more consistsent because he was covering 2nd and 3d options.

No doubt he's a stud. No sense in arguing about that... Another 1st rounder, RTR

I didn't think we moved our corners around much...I know Humphrey was covering Clemson's top WR at least a few times in the CFPCG...remember him making a key PD against Scott early in the 4th quarter, just before we started our run...

I just wish more of our corners would look back for the ball like Humphrey does...

I know he didn't have far to go but during his pick six he was gone in two steps. This kid is so freaking fast. Beast.

Yeah I don't remember Cyrus following number 1 receivers around last year. I could be wrong, and I definitely wasn't downplaying the other guys. I just think that Marlon was our best pure cover corner even last year, and tend to think he's been a little underrated by even our fans (much more so by the commentators - hence the talk about the matchup between JuJu and Minkah).

He's a sophomore. And so are MF and RH. They can't declare untol next year.

Isn't he a RS sophomore?

I don't know where y'all are getting that from. He'll stay next year. He still has a hell of a lot to work on.

CBS Sports lists him as the no.1 CB on their 2017 draft board and pretty much all the mock drafts have him going in the first. Some have him going top 10. Not saying for sure he will leave but there's a pretty good chance he will.

Mel Kiper also had him in his top 10 draft eligible CBs list before the season started...he's a lockdown corner with great speed/catch-up speed, great at finding the ball, and can hit/tackle. He was instrumental in shutting down JuJu Schuster-Smith last week and, if he continues to play well, he'll likely get a first round grade so I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him declare...
