This year, we have this kid that is supposed to be incredible that gave up his last 2 years at FSU to start at Alabama that wasnt even good enough to beat out Sims last year and we are seeing why RIGHT frickING NOW.

Coker had hype last year. It didn't happen. Let it go, man.

Thats what im talking about. But even after not living up to it last year its been crammed down our throats for another year like lasts year just magically didnt exist or something.

My bottom line on that post has nothing to do with that though, its that Sims played over his head and Coker is choking on his own dick. THAT's why a lot of us are harder on him than we were on Sims.

Again...

500 yards offense
5 TD drives
34 points the offense scored under his watch

Personally, when a QB leads a team to those kinds of numbers, I don't act like he's the problem. I don't know maybe I just love old fashioned football too much

Where was the Coker hype this year? Could I have a link? Most Alabama fans had him sitting at second or third on their wish list for starting QB going into this year.

Sims choked in the OM game last year. Sims was absolutely horrible against Arkansas last year. Why does he get a pass for those games?

Because we KNEW he was terrible and was doing nothing but holding us over for a year until we could get something better in place and yet somehow took us to the first college football playoff and played well enough to beat ohio st if we hadnt shot ourselves in the foot in some other areas (coughplaycallingcough) I'm a Kiffin lover (after being one of his biggest haters before I actually saw him coach) but I will say that his refusal to lean on the running game when its having success is his biggest downfall. But thats on Kiffin, not Sims. At the same time, Kiffin is also the only reason Sims did as well as he did last year by reading the defenses for him.

It's about expectation and result. It's different relative to every single player on the field.

Coker is not good. You can keep pretending he's Peyton Manning by posting those stats but that doesn't make it true.

This. You cant post those numbers and just ignore not only his turnovers, but the times that he hit the defense in the hands and they just didnt catch it. He's lucky he didnt have 5 picks last night

To lay blame of the loss solely on Coker is moronic.

Stewarts fumble on the opening kick-off, Drakes fumble on a kick-off return, Humphrey and whomever was playing FS getting burned on the scramble pass for a TD and Treadwell TD reception against Jones. Plenty of blame to go around.

Kiffins play calling was suspect and the Oline blocked like shite too.

The main reason Bama lost the game imo, was that Ole Miss was more physical than Bama and that created opportunities for Ole Miss.

It's not solely on him, but people who are defending him because he tried so damn hard make me sick. I can go out there and try my fricking hardest but we arent going to beat UAB with me at the helm and UAB doesnt even have a fricking team this year.

And that was at home, with a friendly crowd. What happens when it's in Athens and he has to deal with that crowd?

He competed...which is a hell of a lot more than individuals who post on a message board second guessing his abilities.

I agree Coker made bad decisions at key moments, but the dude brought Bama back twice from double digit deficits. Bottom line is that the offense failed as a unit and that also includes Play calling by the staff. Jmo.

Nobody is doubting his heart. That isn't what this conversation is about.

The main thing that made Sims light years better was his poise and pocket presence. Also Hus ability to avoid the tackle and his quick release. Oooops I just named tons of reasons why Sims is far far far superior than any qb on our roster.

It makes my soul hurt knowing we didn't get another year with that badass.

Sims had limitations too, he was awful on the road, and there were times when we leaned on him way too much.

I'd take him back right now.

And the opponents knowing Sims was a threat to tuck and run with the ball.

so far from living up to his hype

Who's fault is that?

Personally, I thought between the Wisky game and last night that Coker looks like a decent enough QB to get us where we want to go. Is he Joe Montana? No.

He's not the OC that forgoes the run with 3+ minutes to go and TOs in the bank.

If we had a dominant running game, I'd be fine with Coker. But we don't, so......
