Coker could run the zone read. Don't underestimate his athletic ability. He's not a Zach Mettenberger. JC can move.

The key will be, as it most always is, which QB can take care of the football.

Sims would be an INT machine. Coker would be much easier to get under control, I think while he was at FSU he was probably trying to make big plays happen to win the job with jameis and after he lost it to get exposure. I bet Kiffin is drooling over having him in tuscaloosa and I have a hard time believing he is going to push for sims over coker. lets face it Sims isnt a QB in the Alabama system. Maybe over there in Lee County, but not in Tuscaloosa. That's the reality of the situation, I know he has put in hard work and sat back waiting for his time, but we're trying to win football games and I have never been impressed with anything I have seen him do while at UA.

Out of the limited film Ive seen on Coker, Sims and Bateman, I like Bateman the best. He seems to have better throwing mechanics, pocket presence, mechanics and is equally as mobile as Coker and Sims. Bateman also has a good head on his shoulders. Realistically, I doubt Bateman wins the starting job due to lack of experience but he definitely deserves serious consideration.

I was way more impressed with Bateman than Sims, but I think Coker has a lot of potential and the better choice for right now. His spring game film sucked but the other reps he got he made some good plays.

I agree. I hear a lot of people talk about how big of an arm Coker has... Im not worried about Cokers arm, Im worried about his accuracy.

The guys I used to play with that had really strong arms usually had bad accuracy. In our offensive system, having a big arm isnt really important. Look at GMAC... he didnt have a big arm but was pin point accurate within 20 yards. To me, that is much more important. Of the limited film Ive seen, it seems as though Coker likes to throw off of his back foot. Sure, the dude has a cannon, but if he continues to throw off of his back foot, the football will tend to sail and be pick city.

This is a bit off-topic, but why the confidence in the defense? I'm sure they are going to be good, but truly dominant? Our corner play has to be a legitimate concern especially after Eddie Jackson's injury. L26 is the truth, but whoever starts at the other safety spot is going to be worse than Ha-Ha. Losing Mosley is going to hurt a ton as well. The only spot where we clearly upgraded is along the d-line. I don't see a lot to suggest that our nose play will be improved though, and that's where we struggled the most last year. It just seems like we have way too many question marks for the defense to be expected to be truly great.

In a west coast system like ours, accuracy on short and intermediate throws is much, much more important than "plus arm strength". Without it, the offense stalls. We've been lucky/spoiled with 5 straight years of incredibly accurate QBs. There will almost certainly be a drop off this year. I worry about the accuracy of Coker, Sims, and Bateman

Completely agree. Accuracy is most important. Of the limited film Ive seen, it appears Bateman is the most accurate. All three QBs have adequate arm strength for our system... so when people say Coker has a cannon, it doesnt really do much for me.

I think you're spot on. We've got way more depth and talent on the DL than we've ever had which is reason to be optimistic but a lot of questions in the back 7. If guys like Ragland, Lee, TB, and Geno step in and play lights out than the D will be scary good, but there will almost certainly be growing pains at least in early games

Its somewhat of a concern, but I am confident in the talent that we have.

Well Ha-Ha was a 1st round pick in NFL, so that isnt really saying anything.

I still think its going to qualify as being nasty, if for no other reason than we will have a dominant D-Line and enough talent to make up for the rest, IMO.

Lots of truth here. I watched the Giants win two super bowls against probably the Goat with little more on D than elite pass rushers. IMO Dline is the most important on that side of the ball.

Ferocious, instinctive, athletic and disruptive. These adjectives apply to many of the nation's premier linebacker prospects who have commanded continuous collegiate interest throughout the 2015 recruiting cycle.

Seasons of high school game film and standout performances at showcase events like The Opening—an annual invite-only July camp in Beaverton, Oregon—have provided a strong sample size for several top-tier defenders. Recent recruiting-service rating alterations continue to alter the landscape when it comes to establishing a pecking order for playmakers at the position.

In the aftermath of newly released 247Sports composite rankings, we broke down the top 10 linebackers from a talent-packed group. Here's our analysis based on film study sessions and firsthand accounts of what we witnessed at The Opening.

This article is part of Bleacher Report's CFB 200 Recruiting Rankings Series. The overall rankings are based on the 247Sports composite, which takes into account every recruiting service's rankings. The positional rankings also correspond with those composite scores. Stay tuned over the next two weeks as we take an in-depth look at college football's stars of tomorrow.

9. Leo Lewis, Brookhaven High School (Brookhaven, Mississippi)

Trending: Even

247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction: Mississippi State (67 percent); Alabama (29 percent); Ole Miss (5 percent)

Alabama initially claimed a commitment from the country's top-ranked inside linebacker, but Leo Lewis backed off that pledge in July. Upon his decision, the 6'3", 225-pound punisher immediately became one of the premier uncommitted defensive players in this class.

His intensity (some may call it a mean streak) makes him the kind of middle linebacker you want setting the tone for a defensive attack. He's a complete prospect at the position who flashes tremendous anticipation and exploits offensive weaknesses.

“I’m very explosive,” Lewis said this spring. “My instincts are good. I know exactly where to go and when I need to be there.”

When he's in position to make a play, it's rare to see the ball-carrier escape his grasp. He wraps up and drives through with a powerful lower body to put opponents on their backs.

Lewis dominates in one-on-one situations when backs or tight ends attempt to chip him off the edge, proving himself as a dynamic and relentless blitzer. He's the guy you want shooting through the gap on 4th-and-inches, making life difficult for everyone on the other side of the football.

Lewis, who recorded 100 tackles last season, believes he can thrive in a variety of defensive game plans.

“I think I could play in any scheme," he said. "I can work hard and develop enough to play any position, outside or inside. I’m not worried about what kind of defense a team plays."

Inside linebacker is his most likely landing spot, but don't be surprised if Lewis lands at the weak-side position. Enhancements in perimeter pass coverage would go a long way toward easing that transition.

I really hope Coker lives up to the hype generated from Jimbo's comments, but the compilation video of all his snaps from last year is just meh. I realize he was in there with second stringers, but I still was expecting more
when I watch his 2013 plays im actually fairly confident he will be very good for us. Its pretty clear that the 2ndor 3rd string line hes playing behind is pretty terrible, as they are letting terrible acc dlines right through like a turnstile. At least 1/4 of his incomplete passes are tipped because he instantly has someone in his face. Several of them are drops or throwing away like he should, only about 4-5 truly bad passes. His int was tipped by his receiver. On the good side, he shows he can extend plays and make complete passes on the move, can pick up first downs with his feet, and has plenty of arm and good enough accuracy (throws some really nice passes into tight spots). Things will obviously have to run differently than with aj, but that's true of all the qbs we have. And at least with coker we probably will not see deep receivers have to slow down or come back because the ball doesnt have enough on it. I think kiffins approach (simplifying some things, focus on getting the ball to the playmakers and matchups) will help whoever gets tapped. I hope its coker or bateman, because I think we would have to change our offense more drastically for sims to be successful.

I don't really expect him to ever have this type of season, but I'd love to see Lacy put up like 1600 yards on the ground with 12-14 TDs. Part of the reason I don't see him ever really doing that is Rodgers.

I think he'll be a consistent 1200ish yard guy with 8-12 TDs, at least until his decline starts.
