Let's re-live a few of the big 4 and 5 star "can't miss" hot shots that never materialized.

I'll start us off.

Tyler Love. I don't think he ever saw the field, even in mop-up duty.

A lesser known but possibly most costly bust was Travell Dixon. #1 Juco CB whom everyone (myself included) assumed would step right in and play well opposite Milliner in '12 and be the next lock-down CB in '13. Not only was he highly ranked, but history suggested that when we went out and got a juco player at a position of need, he would come in and be a star. Instead he transferred after a disappointing spring creating a talent deficit at CB that was largely responsible for our poor pass defense in '13. Wound up at Washington where he contributed but didn't start.

there was a CB from S Al. that left after one year, I think, and went to USM. I recall a horrible leg injury during one game. I am thinking his name may have been Lawrence.

Eddie Williams, Tyler Hayes and Brent Calloway.

All of that talent. No intelligence.

Alonzo Lawrence was from Mississippi. Claim to fame was shutting down Julio in the Ala-Miss HS All Star game or something like that. Couldn't get out of CNS's doghouse

that is him. While playing for USM he had a leg that snapped and was pretty gross to watch. A lot like Prothro but higher up.

Wow. Looking back at that 2007 class, there were several I remember being excited about that just never did anything or didn't make it all together.

B.J. Scott would be have to be the biggest disappointment to me personally. I had only been following recruiting for a few years up to that point and although Julio was the highest ranked guy, it seemed like the sky was the limit for Scott given his athleticism.

Not sure these guys were huge busts, but they certainly didn't contibute as much as fans expected them to....

Kendall Kelly
Michael Bowman
William Ming
Jerrell Harris
Tana Patrick
Keiwon Malone

We've had a lot of 4 star WRs who simply have not panned out for one reason or another.

BJ Scott. I had just started following recruiting and remember thinking he'd be a STUD. Also, Tana Patrick. I wanted him to break through so much, I really liked him. Was he from Ohio? Maybe should have gone somewhere else. He had some unbelievable LBs to compete against.

I'd say save Harris and Patrick, all of this guys were huge busts.

I just wish Devonta Bolton would have made it into school, he had 2 chances. Apply yourself!

What about Devonta Bolton and Mike Ford. Two guys with great potential that could never get it together in the class room enough to make it to Bama. Mike Ford did go on to play for South Florida.

Not sure if serious. He was an integral part of Alabama's 2011 defense and while he may not have played as much, it may have been due to the fact the people surrounding him were fricking Upshaw, Hightower, Nico Johnson, and CJ Mosley.
