For real. I thought this guy was gonna be the next Reggie Bush. He did literally nothing. Barely got on the field. He did transfer to South Alabama where he had a pretty solid senior year as a safety.

Jerrell Harris

Not sure if serious. He was an integral part of Alabama's 2011 defense and while he may not have played as much, it may have been due to the fact the people surrounding him were fricking Upshaw, Hightower, Nico Johnson, and CJ Mosley.

Coming out of high school he was rated higher than those guys. Recruiting obviously isn't a perfect science, but it is what people use to determine if a guy is a bust or not. He was an athletic freak, but he was never a regular contributor - even his last year he had less than 30 tackles, hardly the results most would've expected coming out of high school.

Jerrell Harris is still on an NFL roster, not sure if that makes him a bust.

Back in time. Joe King, Billy Ray, Jeff Dunn. There was also a "can't miss" center from Enterprise back then that never panned out.

Titus Ryan.

Coming here to post Titus Ryan

Chris Keys is another one. Got beat up by Ali Sharrief and kicked off the team. He was
The best recruit Shula had signed to date at the time

Maybe semantics but I'd disagree with JH never being a regular contributor. He was the starting Sam LB on the '11 defense. He played very well that season in the role he was assigned and even led the team in tackles in the BCSNCG. Did he ever fully live up to expectations? No but doesn't rise to the level of a bust IMO

The incomparable Jimmy Barnes. I think he was a reasonably highly rated recruit. But once he got on campus it was clear that he was not gonna cut it

Not really off topic, but it's not his fault, Alfy Hill had me believing he was the 2nd coming of DT, but the NCAA fricked him over.

For biggest recruiting bust, you guys already mentioned Love, Scott, and others. I'd say Philip Sims. I remember being on TideSports reading the debate between McCarron and Sims.

Yeah those debates were epic. It was right around that time Tidesports switched to a pay site. "You can see AJ with his head on the table in the QB meeting in an ESPN clip; no way he starts!"

I'm not going to lie, I thought Sims was the guy. He had a beautiful release, and looked great in the pocket in that spring game.

But his career never took off after that.

Most physically imposing guy I have ever been around.
Dude was like 6'6", 285 with 6% body fat. His hands were like catcher's mitts.

But he was a scumbag drug addict who didn't want to give 100%. He was shot during a drug deal in Birmingham early one morning and was still able to run a long way for help.

Probably the greatest waste of pure physicality I have ever seen.

I still think he would have done well. The AJ/P.Simms competition would have been a win-win for us.

Sidenote: Can you imagine how explosive our offense would've been with Blake Sims had AJ been a bust?

Well hes joined a bunch of teams at least. Hopefully he is having fun, making memories, and his transition to regular life wont be to hard on him. RTR.
