decent pt made this morning on the radio ... his transferring gives the other qbs, who might be here next year, more reps ... bb was def transferring, so coop gets his reps and cornwell should get a few more (don't know his status with the foot) ... he'll get to play oct 1st next year ... leaves us thin at qb, but that's what happens sometimes ... wish we had a blake sims type guy on the roster ...

I think it's a dumb and shitty move to transfer mid-season. Otherwise, everyone knew it was coming in the spring. You have to think he's missing home, his family, and his surfer chick. Sounds like his dad might be a meddler too.

That said, he'll go somewhere else and light it up, despite what Boz and Y-mart, or ystar, or whatever his name is, says. All he needs is some experience. The kid is very talented. I hate to lose him.

Never really thought about it from that perspective but yeah, I guess that is the silver lining to losing a couple of 5-Star RS Freshmen (among others) before October.

I am gonna let you guys know right now though. If BB goes to JUCO and ends up at Auburn (or with Lane at another SEC School) next year, I'm gonna express some major butthurtedness on the RANT... Frick that BS!!!

NS has to grant a waiver and he would have to sit out 2 years should that waiver stipulate no SEC school. If the kid is truly homesick I see him going back to the west coast.

The silver lining is that there was a possibility of some players supporting Barnett and some supporting Hurts, which might cause a rift in team chemistry. This precludes that from happening.

Are you saying his transfer helps our salary cap for next season?

If this is true, then he is making a decision for his future. Can't fault someone for that.

Losing depth is not ideal, but there are capable backups available this year (Bateman, Cornwell) that should serve well if called upon.

Not to mention, it's not his girlfriend, it's his fiancee in California. Little bit different, and I understand the desire of returning to his family. Marriage is a commitment that supercedes Alabama football.

I hope Blake gets an opportunity to showcase his abilities closer to home and his family. Wish him nothing but the best and appreciate all that he's done for Alabama football the past couple of years.

Mom actually

Yeah, this is what my generally reliable inside source says. Mom was raising cain before season even started.

I also wondered if this has anything to do with his illness. He was in the hospital with blood transfusions in the spring and heard he recently had some issues.

Look I like Barnett but IMO he isn't better than hurts. I want him to stay and be the backup but at this point he is pissing people off.

If he goes the juco route, he can sign wherever he wants. He would need no waiver from Bama.

I still think he ultimately ends up at UCLA

Say what you want about BB, but the dude was smooth. He was as graceful as a horse on ice skates. He had that natural elusive ability. I never did see a defender square him up enough to knock BOTH his cleats clean off his body... just one.

His release was a thing of beauty. It had more loops than the Daytona 500, and with that 3/4 sidearm delivery that was as fast as maple syrup he truly reminded me of the great uncle rico.

A true field general that was often seen sitting off somewhere in the shade watching his teammates pour their blood, sweat, and tears onto the battlefield while maintaining his stoic pout face.

Nothing could rattle him. I'll never forget the scrimmage of the century vs the 2nd team defense where he actually dropped and kicked not one... but TWO handoffs while also on his way to setting the all time Bama scrimmage pick 6 record. Little did his teammates know he had been puking in the locker room till the point of dehydration two hours leading up to that big scrimmage.

Balls you ask ? Yeah he had balls. Who else on the team had the balls to run frantically behind CNS in an effort to use the legend as a block during the ADay game this past spring ? Probably never see that again; thats something that youre born with.

Yes... this one is gonna Hurts for a while my friends, but at least we know that BB will be somewhere doing whatever is best for him at all cost even if he has to throw a teammate, or the entire program under a bus to take care of himself he will be taken care of. I can only imagine the number of NFL scouts salivating over this total package of a football player.

Yeah all kidding aside BB is being shredded by the media and pundits today.

Dude was on R&K today said he knew BB was a "silver spoon thin skinned kid" when he saw him at the elite 11, and also added that he knew he was not a SEC caliber talent when he saw him compete.

These are not my words so dont lose your shite, but he basically said Hurts showed up and made that arse quit.

In reality he was well liked by the team until he started showing his arse. What he needed to do was get more consistent and he couldn't. Jalen is a tough kid, doesn't talk a lot of shite and is a team player. Much like Blake Sims, Jalen would sacrifice himself to win a game for them, where BB quits 4 games in. I wish him well but I would have waited until Dec.

Yeah I strongly doubt this.

Most of those kids already knew what the deal was after USC, so there isn't really a Hurts vs BB situation. That has been the fanbase driving the narrative.

Terrible timing and seemed like a dumb move on first glance, but if he's able to figure a way to end up eligible at an FBS school next season, then I guess I'd have to rethink that.

It sucks for our team, because with the way Jalen is running the ball the chance of injury is obviously increased, which puts a premium on having a solid backup. I guess Blake felt that, even with an injury, when Jalen was healthy he was going to be the starter.

Hope Jalen can stay healthy, and good luck to Barnett. If we make it through the year with Jalen healthy nobody will much remember/care how this went down. If there's an injury and Bateman can't function, people will remember him much differently.

There is clearly arm talent there, but he lacks a presence/awareness that you need to be a starting QB at a high level. Maybe he'll get it eventually. Unfortunately for him, a guy a year younger than him already has it.

Totally agree. Hurts seems to have the respect of his teammates already. Seemed to have it after one game in which he didn't start.
