I would hope so. Hope he tears it up (though it is preseason) and gets people talking. Cincy fans already seem to like him. If Dalton starts slipping...

I feel like Dalton is that guy that nobody realizes sucks until he's started for 8 straight seasons with no success. People realize he isn't all that good, but nothing ever changes. He has an average season, makes the playoffs sometimes, shits his pants in the playoffs, everyone is mad for a week, everyone second guesses how much he is at fault, everyone gets excited for the next season, repeat.

I'm not saying AJ should start over him. But it feels like the damn twilight zone with Dalton.

In other news, the Bengals Oline is sad. Just awful.

Cincy's next drive will start from their own goal line...if AJ comes in that's just bad luck.

Good field position for AJ.

I'm wondering if they let him play the rest of the game . . .

Dalton is absolutely horrible. Wallace Gilberry is tearing it up as usual, and Dre played alright despite giving up a TD. McCarron is out there now!

AJ has 2/4 for 16 yards, though one of his incomplete passes was a drop

These fouls during preseason games are just awful.

Agreed. This entire drive has been filled to the brim with yellow.

Can't judge AJ on this game - he has been given zero shot. Penalties on every drive - both started 1st and 20. Dropped pass. Safety on the next one starting on the 1.

I vote to never have Tampa Bay and Cincinnati on MNF again.

Good drive by AJ. He managed the hell out of the game.

As of now:

AJ McCarron

10/14 (at least one drop, missed the other incompletions) for 82 yards

1 rush for 3 yards

All things considered, not bad. Nothing jaw dropping of course.

Lot of dump offs and only 2 (by my count) downfield throws. So, good job at managing the game, but you have to take into consideration that this is Tampa Bay's 2nd string. I'd like to see him play against the 1st string after getting some experience and start building some confidence and stretching out the field.

AJ finishes:

11/15 (at least one drop) for 97 yards (6.5 YPA)

1 rush for 3 yards

1 sack for -11 yards

Overall, all things considered, he did fine. Like someone else mentioned, a lot of short throws and game managing. He was running backups against backups, but I think he played his role fine.

ETA: Oh yeah, and AJ led Cincy's ONLY TD drive of the night
