Evan Mathis signed 1year deal with Broncos
I know him a little. Super nice guy. Very funny. Could absolutely make a living in Vegas (and a damn good one, too) if he decided to hang it up. He's been smart with his money and has invested in a variety of sustainable businesses. He's not got a group of friends mooching off him either. He's taken care of his brother who runs a gym Evan owns in Arizona (which is why I thought he'd ultimately sign with the Cards, as Evan has a home there).
The broncos make sense for him. He wants a ring and then he wants one more deal for 2-3 years then he'll call it a day.

Yeldon is starting vs the Lions tonight at 7 on CBS.

Yep, I'm really excited about this one.

I remember that Michigan game. Yeldon tore it up.
I wonder if he ever brings it up to Denard Robinson?

Jags pounding it with Yeldon so far, but not a lot of running room. He did have a 12 yard catch and run. Drive still going.

Drive over. Bortles looks really good for Jacksonville, so potentially good QB play is good for TJ. He got a lot of touches, but didn't get much other than the 12 yard catch and run.
Yeldon on his first NFL drive:
6 carries for 9 yards (1.5 YPC)
1 catch for 12 yards

He looked good on that drive. Not many holes but looks like he'll be a focal point of the offense. Bortles looked great.

Yeah good thing is he fought for the yardage he got. Hope he pops a couple though.

Didn't play much on the next drive, he came in for goal line and got two carries. Second was a TD.

Unfortunately, he also lost the ball on the TD run. It was millimeters from being another goal line fumble.

Yeah I didn't want to say anything since it doesn't go in the books as a fumble, but he absolutely has to stop losing the ball. Fumbles are rarely tolerated in the NFL

He needs to talk to Tiki Barber. Tiki went from absolute butter fingers to one of best in the league with ball security.

Yeah by carrying it high and tight the way Ingram and Trent did. Not sure why our RBs stopped doing that
Posted on 8/29/15 at 12:45 pm to sarc
Yup high and tight. I hope drake doesn't cough it up much this year.

Love hearing this next one. We always knew this about McChampion, but glad to hear people saying it about him in the NFL.

After the game, his teammates took note of McCarron's bearing on the field.
"You definitely know when AJ's in the huddle," tight end Tyler Kroft told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "There's a presence when he's in there. I think he's a real good person, one, and then, two, he's a really smart quarterback and he knows what's going on. He's not afraid to make the calls to put us in the best situation."
Running back James Wilder Jr., who said McCarron barked at him to get in the right spot when he lined up wrong on Cincinnati's 2-point conversion attempt, lauded the QB's leadership.
"He took charge," Wilder said. "He's not just one of these guys just making plays. He's a leader. We're real tight. That's the thing I love about him. When I'm in there, I'm making sure no one touches AJ. He's that guy who brings everybody in if things aren't going right. 'Everybody huddle up.' That's something you need."

McCarron in for Cincy, completed his first pass. Dalton got hurt to my understanding, pretty sure it isn't too serious, he's just not gonna play anymore in this game. AJ may go the rest of the way. Lot of reps to be had.

AJ has started 4/4 for 61 yards, had a great long pass negated cuz of holding
Also 1 run for 3 yards
Also 1 run for 3 yards

A perfect throw for McCarron for a TD. Was beautiful.
9 play, 71 yard drive
Just preseason but McCarron looks like he belongs in the NFL.
Apparently the yardage total earlier was off, but now:
5/5 for 62 yards and a TD (plus the 43 (?) yarder that was negated)
2 runs for 4 yards
