I think its the other way around. If we get Sina or Powell or Harris , we know for a fact Barber isn't signing early.

Yep. If one of those guys committed to us, it means we didn't think we'd land Barber. I see no reason why our staff wouldn't be confident about getting Barber. He raves about Grant in every interview. Once he sees our practice facility and the campus in general, I think he'll be sold on us.

I hope you are right. The biggest thing I see working against us is the fact that he would have to sit behind Releford for a year. He would get plenty of minutes as the backup PG, but he could go some places and play 30 minutes every night as a freshman.

I think we could play him that much even with Releford still here. Releford being a senior his freshman year is probably helping us because he knows he'll learn for a year and then be the go to guy for the remainder of his career.

He is a pretty good shooter, so I guess I could see him also being a backup 2. Has he said anything about how long he plans on staying in college? I don't think he is a 1 and done, but what I think doesn't matter. If he plans on staying 2 or 3 years, I agree that Releford being a senior doesn't matter at all. He would start as a sophomore, no questions asked.

I haven't read anything about how long he wants to stay in college, but like you said he could play the 2 some. We could also use a speed lineup of both he and Releford. Does Kansas have a PG returning this year?

Last person who retweeted you on to my timeline was your favorite Australian reliever.

I don't think so. Not anyone established at least. Taylor was a 4 year starter. I don't think they brought anyone in either.

I think Tharpe is a PG if he's still on their roster. Plus the white guy in this class can play the point.

So it was nothing new other than he's really good and could be a pro.

Since he's from Virginia, you gotta figure his visit will be a two or three day stay right?

Pretty much.

Unless he has the time and money to go down to Tuscaloosa for a day and then go all the way back to Virginia, yeah I would assume he is in town for a few days.

If he pays for anything on this visit, our boosters and coaches are lazy

Damn right. He better get all kinds of cash payments.

I don't expect a commitment out of him, but if we can solidify ourselves as his leader it would be a successful visit.

I really try not to read too much into articles like that....but it sounds like he is leaning towards us.

quote:

“I like Coach Grant a lot,” Barber explained. “He is just a great person and I have a good relationship with him. He is always honest with you and tells you the truth.”

vs.
quote:

“Kansas is a great school,” said Barber. “I talked to Bill (Self) right before I came to NBA Camp and I have a good relationship with the whole coaching staff.”

and
quote:

“(Bennett) talks to my dad a lot,” Barber said. “We came up here for a visit and we talked about basketball and life. I like Coach Bennett he seems like a good guy.”

Basketball recruiting is almost exclusively about the relationship between the HC and the recruit, and it sounds like he has a better one with Grant than anyone else.

Nope not seing it haha. I do like that he is working on his true PG skills though. I like our chances with him.
