Bill Simmons Calls Nick Saban A 'Coward’
RVR Photos-USA TODAY Sports
During his “The Bill Simmons Podcast” on Friday, Bill Simmons casually went after Alabama head coach Nick Saban calling him a "coward." Per SEC Country...
quote:

“He’s a coward, he left the NFL,” “He’s a coward. You (should) want to compete against the best. The best coaches aren’t in college football; they’re in professional football. And he had a chance to go head-to-head against Bill Belichick, the greatest coach of all-time, he didn’t get the quarterback he wanted in Miami, and like a coward he went back to college, where he stays, where he can just beat up on all these inferior college coaches. Congratulations. He’s the guy who plays Madden on rookie level winning the Super Bowl.

“Come to the NFL, let’s see how good of a coach you are, Nick Saban. When he plays golf does he play from the pink tees? Come to the NFL, let’s see how good you are.

“‘Oh I didn’t get Drew Brees in Miami, I gotta go back to college. I’m just gonna cherry pick all the best high school players on the planet because I’m the head coach at Alabama,’ Simmons said, mocking Saban.

Saban is the best college football coach of his time, maybe ever. He isn't an NFL coach. In college, recruiting IS part of what makes you a good coach while in the NFL coaches can fall victim to GMs and owners, no matter how good a coach they are. I know it is click bait but c'mon.

That guy is a fricking idiot.

PR stunt for sure

I agree, coaching in college does suck. Especially in the SEC, laugh if you want, but the SEC has horrible coaching. HORRIBLE

when Saban came to the SEC it was a different story.

Stupid article. Some coaches enjoy watching young players develop. I enjoy watching college ball over pro myself.

Simmons is on dope... The NFL is a rigged sport with to many controlling factors...

I guess with y'all logic , bobby Bowden , Joe paterno , and all the other great college coaches are cowards . The NFL is not the end all be all . It's all what you want to accomplish as a coach . Is it all about wins and loses or do you want to affect the young people along the way ?.

No one is agreeing with Simmons, read before commenting. I'm sure this was put up because it was an attention grabber.

Considering all the back-turning aerobics he did at Penn State, Joe Paterno might not be the best example of a non-coward.

Part of me says yeah, exactly, go to the NFL you coward, thus ridding ourselves of this menace, and then the other part of me says F.U. Bill Simmons. Nobody cares about your precious NFL as it pales in comparison to the excitement and atmosphere of College Football, and especially College Football in the SEC. 1 CFBNC is worth 20 Lombardi Trophies. Absolutely could not give less of a shite about the NFL if I tried.

College and pro are two completely different games. Some guys are better pro coaches but would fail in college, and vice versa. That doesn't diminish how great a coach they are. And Simmons is just looking to make noise.

Some coaches just don't have the patience to deal with the prima donnas of the NFL. Saban is one of them. I had to google who Bill Simmons was.

I guess LSU fans aren't the only 1's with the tinfoil hats...

His temper tantrums didn't work in the NFL, and he proven he's not that good on a level playing field
