some fans quit on coach muss and the players? Ohhh Shut Up! We watched drama, pettiness, pathetic play, and continued child like behavior constantly by a team of misfits who couldn't / wouldn't play together. and who were cashing in!

This was not the "fans" fault. We brought the passion as fans...what did the coaches and players bring?

Seems like every time we have a bad season, the narrative is that the team gave up and chose to suck

I didn't see any quit in guys like Davenport, Battle, Blocker, Mark, Lawson, Ellis.

Some guys like Pinion, Fall, Menifield, rarely saw the court. Not sure how you'd even determine they were showing child-like behavior.

Brazile is the one guy who looked lazy out there to me. Makhi, at times. Even then, we don't really know what's going on. If he's injured, struggling to find his role, whatever it might be.

Very possible Muss quit, that's not the fault of the players though.

Sometimes a team just isn't good. There's not always a 30 for 30 level explanation. It's not like they were Mizzou levels 0fer bad. I still think the guys that come through and play for the university/state deserve a certain amount of fan support.

Richmond's better, imo.

If you mean Fland, I agree. Wagner was higher rated out of high school though

Fans will not make the effort if they don't see the same effort being put out on the court. Defense and teamwork is all effort and they only showed it like 3 games.

Maybe we’ll get Hawkins now

He told a reporter earlier this week that he's leaning 90% toward the NBA, so it seems like he gone.

Boogie's great, but I meant Richmond. I know Wagner was rated higher in high school, but he reminds me of a Muss wet dream.

Fans were plenty hyped till the wheels fell off. Muss and team quit and the fans followed their lead.

All signs still point to Wagner being a hog. Nobody is sure what the hold up is

Also this from today…

So based off my quick research on these two, correct me if I'm wrong. Both are Euro guys on the cusp of being first round NBA guys. Playing against tougher than high school competition, not sure how it compares to college competition.

Egor has point guard skills with a great shot and has grown to 6'9 while retaining that point guard finesse and shot.

Traore is a 6'3 true pg that nobody can guard. Great passing, great finishing and scoring.

Don't know about on D since highlights and scouting usually talk about offense.

If he's after both, I'm thinking Cal may be thinking putting Egor at the 3 position. It just wouldn't make sense with the guards we have to go for both of them, unless he's hedging that he'll only get one.

The other thing is Wagner, if he's coming too that tells me Cal was bullshiting about 8--9 guys and he's planning on platooning an all-star group. It worked for us in the 90's.

Time will tell.

Agreed. Same concept when we suck in football and then change the S&C coach to turn around the “culture” and it never works because we don’t have actual good football players. It’s not always just about effort or because you care the most.

It’s even more that. We had some good players but we had very little muscle on the team. Muss put together a finesse teams, and was shocked when they got bullied in the SEC.

Muss is a mediocre at best offensive coach, his teams were good prior years because of defense. Last years team was absolute shite on D and his terrible offense and coaching adjustments got exposed

One of my biggest gripes last season is muss wouldn’t settle on a lineup. How do you improve if you’re constantly trying to figure out what a different teammate is going to do. Set a lineup and sub accordingly during the game. He pretty much did that the previous years but this last season was who the heck knows.

He was exposed by Stackhouse everytime they played.

Basically college only HCs struggled against him, guys with NBA experience were sure to have the upper hand in the second half due to adjustments.

Yeah this was so frustrating to watch. It was almost funny that we were so bad on D that he finally switched to zone for the first time in 3 years, but then only for like two possesions and never again lol. We should've played zone all year. Him not playing Battle for extended periods early in the year was also just horrible coaching, he single handely kept us in games down the stretch
