I recently inherited a 1944 sporterized smith corona 03A3 from my grandfather. What are your thoughts on mounting a scope on it to use for deer hunting? From what I have read with it being sporterized it has already been altered and the value is not as high. However this gun would never be sold and thought it would be pretty cool to hunt with it? Should I leave it unaltered or mount a scope? Thanks

You think it would be cool to hunt with?

Of course it would be cool to hunt with.
And it’s already sporterized, so scope away if you desire.

Powpow gave me his dad’s old Remington 1903A3 a few years ago. Got an 8 point with it each of the last 2 seasons. Don’t take it out often, but it seems to like bucks. Looks like that’s what I need to finish this season off with. Definitely a deer hunting rifle. This one is a 1942 if I recall correctly.

That’s awesome and a great looking gun! That’s my goal to be able to hunt with it some and be able to enjoy it rather then just have it sit in the safe. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t making a mistake by putting a scope on.
