Started taking mine at 4. I always had a charged iPad. I know some here will give you grief but it worked out fine with mine. He's about to be 11 and has killed more bucks than most grown men on this site.

Took my boy (4 then) a few times last season. First sit, we popped a doe about twenty minutes after day light. He loved it. Just don't expect them to sit still.

I don't know about the ipad/iphone method. Seems to defeat the purpose. Wonder how our dads got us into the woods? Must've had more patience? I turn my phone off when hunting, always bring it for emergencies, but when I settle into a stand or blind, the phone goes off. I've taken my son since he was 3, now 6. We bring a gun and do a lot of walking, looking for tracks, checking out every ditch, throwing sticks and rocks in the river. Yea, i know, that's not hunting but we call it hunting and he loves it. To each his own, but ipads and movies in the deer stand or blind seem silly...
