Ratan Tata is not Hindu, he is a Parsi. They follow a completely different religion, Zoroastrianism.

The Parsi community in India is very successful, they are kind of analogous to Jewish people in United States. They fled from Iran when they were persecuted by Muslims.

Ratan Tata is highly respected by everyone in India across political parties.
