Gly and 24D about 3-4 weeks before planting, then you can hit it again with glyphosate only at planting if needed. Wait until plants are greening up before spraying.

2qt/acre for gly
2pt/acre 24D

If it’s all green and about the same height, just spray it with Roundup. Put a little surfactant in the mix if you’re using generic glyphosate from Tractor Supply or similar.

If it’s dead or even dormant (grown as big as it will get or frost killed) you can Pee on it and get the same result as Roundup. What I suggest there is bush hog it down reasonably low (6” is plenty low enough) and wait on a rain and let it green up.

THEN spray it with Roundup. The reason for this is RU only works on green actively growing plants.

If it’s all dead and or dormant, wait until it’s warm enough to plant what you want, then spread seed and fertilizer in a buggy from the Co-Op and just bush hog what’s there now down over your summer grass.

Or combine the two. If you don’t plan to plant before say May, let it all keep growing, then spray. You’ll kill what’s growing then and can immediately spread seed and fertilizer (RU will have no effect on them) and bush hog after.

Crap on a disc. It’s nothing but a tool to help you burn fuel, use up soil organic matter and waste time.

I agree with pretty much everything said on glyphosate/roundup. Wby257 could tell us everything about spraying.

And he will have a come apart on you throw and mowers who don’t have a tractor, and want to argue that spray and pray, I mean throw and grow, is better for planting greenfields. Unless you have a drill, and that is a whole other animal.

Has anyone looked at gly prices for 2022? I am seeing 30-50% price increase. What is everyone else seeing.
