"That tells me that somebody didn't watch a lot of film if he calls that a mickey mouse offense," said Hester. "Let me tell you something, everything is available in a Josh Heupel offense. They will run gap scheme as much as anybody. They will run power, they'll run counter -- every run is up (available) in that Tennessee offense. It might be out of 11 personnel, but they will run anything and everything."

NFL teams don’t give a shite what Jacob Hester, fullback, thinks about an air raid offense.

quote:

"(NFL) Teams are skeptical of Tennessee's college-friendly Air Raid system that coaches and scouts say allows quarterbacks to read half the field on on-read plays while stationary, which isn't life in the NFL," wrote Fowler recently.

That dynamic offense scored 7 points against Missouri last year. And lost to Florida while scoring 16.

In Hester's defense Les constantly ran him on dives straight into eight and nine man boxes. Head trauma is no laughing matter.

Nope. He’s coaching college. Just like Gus Malzahn, who couldn’t win recruiting battles down the stretch because nobody was getting drafted highly out of his offense.

So the NFL cares what Jeremy Fowler (who?) says, but don't care about an NFL veteran's opinion?

No, Jeremy Fowler is just a reporter from ESPN who wrote down what his sources in the NFL were saying.

Jacob Hester played fullback and hasn’t been in the NFL since Barack Obama’s first term in office.

This ain’t got shite to do with Jacob Hester. This is a whole arse response thread about the talking points being used by rivals about UT’s offense. Specifically, it’s about how NFL teams view the offense and the impact that opinion has on draft picks and thus recruiting.

Jacob Hester can talk all he wants about how great the offense is. And in his defense, Huepel is at UT to win games, not get players drafted. However, much like Malzahn, his ability to win games will be hampered due to his inability to recruit players into an offense that doesn’t get players drafted.

Huepel hasn’t had a single skill player on offense drafted higher than the 3rd round. That is and will be problematic for his program.

Of his biggest competition, LSU & Bama have been cranking out 1st rounders for years and even UGA's "outdated manball" offense has been slinging it since 2020

It’s a toy offense that gets exposed once big boy football starts to be played.

You don't need to be in the NFL to recognize a gimmick offense.

Heupel had more success against UGA when he was OC at Mizzou than he does at Tennessee.

Is Mizzou a better college football program than Tennessee? Better players and assistant coaches?

A gimmick offense gets "figured out". That's the difference. Kirby has had time to test out schemes and playcalls which stress an offense which is designed to stress defenses.
