From a fans perspective LSU may not have been playing at a high level the last two seasons. Fortunately for Les and his program the players arent idiots like many of the fans and recognize LSU is a place where they can go to progress as a football player....
Have you ever lived in the north? Huge majority of people (and recruits) would prefer 90 and humid in the summer as "bad weather" than 20 and snowy in the winter up north.
Last I checked USC and Miami were not up north....
The only schools I would say recruit themselves is USC and Miami and even they have had struggles in the past. The weather in Louisiana is terrible and last I checked there were no beaches nearby....

If LSU had Tim Tebow or Colt McCoy yall probably would have won 3 NCs. When the likes of Matt Flynn, JaMarcus Russel and Jordan Jefferson are under center dont expect dynasties....

I'm pretty sure LSU doesn't get great QBs. Teams that regularly contend for championships have great QBs....

I don't get it...

I was on LSU's campus earlier this week for work training. I am not an LSU alum but I regularly attend games and watch them on tv. I found myself getting in arguments with many of the students at the union and in my training class (as well as the teacher) about LSU football. I was simply stating how...
I think Gainesville and Madison are pretty good college towns. Baton Rouge is an awful college town. Parents that want their kid to get a good education send them to private school. The traffic is a nightmare, there's not much to do. People go to New Orleans to have a good time. Maybe I dont know wh...
I think QB play is the main problem. Blame Miles all you want but not having a good QB negates solid coaching. With Russel Sheppard switching to receiver they need to find someone to carry the offense....
Nice to see my school at #1. It was a great 4 years and I think I'll raise my kids there eventually....
I never was a Larry Coker fan. Lloyd Carr wasn't a terrible coach I don't think. The problem Michigan had was loyalty to assistants and trainers that weren't suited for the changes in college football....
I think it will be a good game, I would not be surprised if the Saints blow out the Vikings. I would be shocked if the Saints lay an egg and get blown out....
That might not happen since the rankings are such a big part of the networks advertising a game. #3 LSU playing #6 Virginia Tech in September sounds more appealing than just LSU playing VT to the average fan not tied to either school. College football is driven by the poll system. I don't expect it ...
I think the West will have LSU at just a high of level as Auburn and Alabama....

re: Coaches Salaries

Getting paid based off of wins would never happen. Why would a coach give up gauranteed money over a bonus? No coach is going to turn down gauranteed millions over a bonus or not getting paid....

ESPN does hate on LSU. At College Gameday 2008 when Nick Saban came to Baton Rouge. Chris Fowler turned to the crowd, off camera, and critized LSU for not bringing a bigger crowd to Gameday....

You can't complain after the fact what the coaches make. You have to offer these guys lucrative contracts to come to LSU. You have to give the head coach a big raise and contract extension after he wins a BCS Title. That's the nature of the business. You can't give them a pay cut after a bad season ...
I think people are quick to mention the athletic program just to point the finger rather than address the actual issue. Giving the coaches a pay cut will not solve anything. The university needs to increase tuition because it won't be getting more money from the state anytime soon. If the university...
Many of the athletic programs don't spend student fees. LSU and Nebraska dont spend subsidies....

re: Big Ten/SEC Expansion....

I still think Notre Dame is making a huge mistake not trying to join the Big Ten. I imagine one of the networks would give us an exclusive deal like the SEC has with CBS. Maybe on NBC and we could keep our deal with ABC. It's not like NBC has any good programming on anyway....
The NY Times argument about strength of schedule...
