Fayetteville is a perennial member of "best of" lists. Hog Town is laced with lakes and hiking trails, hosts a great farmer's market and has a solid public school system.

I love my town.

Horse country is beautiful for a reason: The town of Lexington has strict zoning laws that protect horse farms. John Calipari has protected something else dear to Kentuckian's hearts: the legacy of the basketball program.

I dont get why people consider state capitals true college towns. If the college isnt the reason people know the town exist then it shouldnt be considered a true college town. Also if its considered a city instead of a town then its not a college town. Just my opinion on Austin being in there. Its a great city, but its the capitol of Texas, come on

HIJACKED

Is the guy in your avatar the guy from Upright Citizens Brigade? If so, is he an Arkansan or something or is the pig stuff a part of an act?

I mean I've been to Lexington, and it wouldn't be anywhere near the top 10 on my list.

I cant imagine Norman to be better than Athens. I know Lexington isnt, but I guess Athens isnt big enough for this list

I just dislike this list entirely A college town shouldn't have to be 'big' to get on this list. Hell, a great college town in my mind should actually be a smaller city. The college should be the center of the town (as you've stated) and in my mind there are very few, if any, better than Athens, GA.

The reason that Lexington and Arkansas are on this list isn't because they are among the best College towns in the country.

It's because they are among the best college towns for regular people to live in, which is what this list really is.

ETA: Not saying that Lexington and Fayetteville aren't good college towns, btw.

Yes to all three questions.

Matt Besser is from Little Rock. He did a monologue comedy bit called "Woo Pig Sooie" that was about his family, growing up in Little Rock and his obsession with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
