Did he really inherit that bad of a situation? I'm sure Petrino left plenty of talent behind. The problem is that John L. Smith couldn't coach it at all in 2012. Smith probably did a bad job recruiting for the 2013 class but that would affect on the field results more in 2015 and 2016 than in 2013. ...

Vandy and Mississippi State got kicked out? Similar to Temple in the Big East?
Vandy is only in the conference because they were the biggest Dixie powerhouse at the time the SEC was formed. I'm not sure why MSU was ever included in the SEC in the 1st place.
I don't want a 14 team SEC let alon...

They didn't have to forfeit the 2003 or 2004 national title. Their win forfeits came in 2005 when they didn't actually win the national title.
It's pretty obvious USC got hosed with their sanctions anyway. Especially when you consider what far worse offenders such as Auburn football, Miami footba...

I'd say Tressel was better. Had a better record (especially if you count the 12 or 13 wins in 2010 that were forfeited) and inherited a much worse situation than Miles did. John Cooper was a mediocre at best coach especially his last few seasons at OSU....

The funny thing is that Gus and Bert have been basically the same the last 2 years. For some reason Bert is much more popular with his fanbase despite Gus' much better 1st year. I guess it's because Gus is trending down while Bert is trending up.
