Are you serious? Saban is the best in the business. He's the best recruiter and motivator in the game. He's a great teacher, he employs great coaches.

You would have much more success.

Compared to the run at Alabama, probably not due to sheer probabability. Since '08 he's only failed to reach a bcs game once. That would be hard to replicate anywhere, even again at alabama.

While I tend to agree with you the OP makes a legitimate point. Saban would not have near the coaches or capital at Georgia he has at Alabama. IMO he is easily the best in the business, but he also has advantages Richt does not have.

Do you honestly think he would have done the same with a smaller recruiting budget, smaller overall coaching compensation well, and a drug testing and discipline regimine that is administered by AD with no bend rules and punishments that over rule the discretion of the head coach?

I feel like Saban's ego would create a final showdown between him staying and the AD/powers doing it "the Georgia way" and I think the $$ and success would force them to abandon their schtick. IF Saban was hired out of Miami for that much and demanded that much I can't see him not getting his way. Otherwise this hypothetical is impossible because Saban wouldn't stick around if it was the way you suggested.

That is possible. If you beleive some of the rumors, Pruitt is pushing those restraints right now.. Bottom line, we are not on even ground with our competition. The only reason we are close is the brand and the fertile recruiting ground.
