What's clear in the press conferences is that Smart is just carbon-copying/ripping off/imitating and trying to follow the Nick Saban script down to a T instead of being himself.

Well he coached under Saban for 9 years so he's naturally going to pick up some things from the guy.

How do you know Kirby isn't being himself? You guys pals?

What the frick is your deal with ALWAYS having to be the insufferable contrarian?

contrarian?

So, I make a post agreeing with the ajc and the rest of the press, and you call me a "contrarian" for doing so?

Maybe if you’re gonna try and use fancy vocabulary words, at least look up their meaning first. Thanks.

The paranoid msm hater supporting the msm rather than our undefeated head coach. Bizarro world.

Perhaps you could evaluate the context of the discussion here first. Thanks? Clearly, he wasn't referring to a contrarian view relative to Chip Towers, but rather relative to the majority of dawg fans posting in this thread. You may truly believe Chip Towers to be a wonderful journalist, but what you make abundantly clear is that you like to play the role of contrarian to whatever the majority opinion is on this board. It's fine. It's your schtick. Occasionally, it's even mildly amusing. But trying to claim intellectual superiority is really not your bag... try something else out.

You saw the responses in this thread and thought 'hmm, how can I get the most downvotes today?'

And here we are.

It should be a give and take relationship. Don't ask inappropriate questions and don't withhold info like you work for the Pentagon.

No. I watched Kirby's press conference yesterday and thought it was an unneccessary busch league Saban impression. And so I shared my thoughts about it in a sea of useless posts about "the press is butthurt, guyz!" and other mongo jiberish.

If you want proof that I touched on some uncomfortable truths with my post, just look at the swarm of fleas and mosquitoes now attacking my ankles instead of offering insight or opinions on the actual topic of the thread.

The funny part about the mongo reaction here too....is that I am actually giving Kirby the benefit of the doubt on yesterday's press conference with it being a Saban cover band performance.

The only other explanation for it would be that he's feeling in over his head or is scared shitless or something.

Maybe people should watch it before they make up their mind or start biting ankles.

The fleas are the ajc and Kirby swatted them. Of course you have aligned yourself with them as a beta flea friend. The rest of us seem to support our head coach and his handling of chip towers' stupid questions.

You understand that the whole world isn't out to get you, or drag you down into their particular brand of shite, right? That's where the "contrarian" label is coming from...

Check it out. More fleas and mosquitoes biting at my ankles because they have zero fricking insight or perspective to offer on the thread topic. Or the ability to challenge anything I said in one post...

Pretty sure I called them throat slitting vultures waiting to pick his bones clean or something like that.

How do my ankles taste, chachi?

It does come off pretty douchey imo. Everybody is glad to see kirby being a hard arse because coach richt never showed that, I get it. But he could tone it down a lot and still be Mr toughguy without coming across as just an arse.

Along the lines of Jeff's point, not only is this his first year of being a head coach, he never even had to deal with media interviews before this year, not sure why he is acting like he's already fed up about it. He better get used to it.

I don't bite beta flea friends' ankles as they don't exist.

Great point.

None of the other Saban disciples that have gone on to become 1st year head coaches gave away unneccessary info during their press conferences either. But they did it without trying to imitate Saban who earned that right to act that way. Saban himself didn't just start out treating the press that way. It was only after he starting winning titles.....which brings with it a whole different mindset from the press which he then has to temper by indulging in being a crotchety dick.

Kirby is skipping half the process and going straight to dick head. It may bite him in the arse if he stumbles, we shall see.

Given his coverage of whatever the hell happened last season and the Gurley deal, it seems obvious that Chip has sources high up in UGA's athletic administration. It wouldn't be surprising if Smart actually makes an attempt to undercut him specifically. He hasn't been particularly pissy with any other reporter that I've noticed.

What crazy stuff does your paranoid imagination have in mind for this?

Fact is, Kirby learned from the master for almost ten years, which is unlike any other of sabans underlings. Saban taught him how to treat stupid questions by specific media members and he is proving he learned well. This should have you excited considering your history.

Chip has a lot of long time relationships at UGA. He is a good dude overall. Beyond everything else, he is competing with a lot of info sources and has moved into an age where click bait story lines are the norm. All this drama...contrived or otherwise is all good for him... He will be just fine...
