As the first program to win the title in '90-91', UGA is no pretender. Also, I was in Vegas when yall lost to Fresno and lost money on yall. UGA was the best team that year for sure.

WTF is going on? It's not just the current coach. This has been a 10+ year decline. There is no reason UGA shouldn't be competing with LSU/USC/Vandy/FLA for championships.

There isn't much interest in baseball at Georgia; basketball either. UGA is very much a football first athletic program and our current AD isn't doing anything to change that perception. Our admins are more concerned with improving our academic standing. They will spend just enough in support of football to keep our alumni/boosters happy.

If true, that needs to change. A good athletic program helps in the fan's attitudes overall I think. And UGA should be top notch.

Also, hey girl!!

If we had a winning team there would be interest in both. You can't continue to put a shitty product out and expect people to buy it.

Yep, to change the culture you have to spend the bucks to bring a game changing coach and I don't see that happening. Our admins are hoping to find that cheap diamond in the rough and so far it ain't happening.

ADGM has made it abundantly clear by retaining Stricklin the last 2 years that the athletic department doesn't give a flying frick about baseball. Maybe sometime in the next decade we'll move on to a new coach that can do better than having us better than 2 other teams in the league half of the time.

Our athletic mission has gone from trying to win all the sports to this:

Given that it's closer in time to our last football title than today, it's a lot more than just a 10 year decline.

Program has never recovered from the Fresno series, IMO

Agree.

Don't know if LSU played at Athens that year or the next, but y'all were #1 when we played.

It has been amazing the downfall since.

It sucks as a baseball fan. UGA isn't some flash in the pan baseball program.

Not really. We started off undefeated for a while and ranked #1 in 2009 and wound up losing to FSU in the regional that year (IIRC).

The program took a nosedive with the injuries of Chance veazey and Jonathan Taylor. Perno was never the same after that and neither was the program. Had the program been competitive heading into the SEC Network era as it had been under Perno throughout the 2000s, we're probably looking at a fully realized Foley Field and sell out crowds every weekend. UGA baseball just peaked a little too early relative to the TV money and had awful luck relative to those 2 injuries and a spineless AD.

Will be very easy to realize. Just need a coach that promotes. Granted that's not the easiest to find, but that is what you need.

Look for a mid major that has been consistent. South Alabama or even the Davidson coach.
