I was impressed with his play calling for most of the year.

Like the three possessions in a row the offense failed to get a first down during the fourth quarter of the Vandy game? or was it the first three quarters of the AU game that impressed you the most?

CONTINUITY--it's what is important. Ask any Disney.

After reading "Gates of Fire" (historical fiction about the battle of Thermopylae), I've had a different perspective about emotional, motivational speeches.

In the book, it describes the discipline of the Spartans being the key to victory in battle. When the blood starts flowing and screams fill the air, it is discipline that keeps the line intact, not the rousing speech that was delivered before the battle that instills a temporary sense of bravery or inspiration. Such bravery will be short-lived without discipline.

Frankly, I don't care if CMR gives wonderful hurrah-speeches to the players on the sidelines. I want him, and the other coaches, to have the players disciplined so that they will do their job when they are winning and when they are losing. Leave the inspirational speeches for the books and movies.

I know a former player who shall remain nameless that wrote CMR a few years back concerning the fact that players do not run into the stadium and run on and off the field as they should. Not as bad now I don't think.

He played for Russell and said they had to hustle all the time.

I agree with this 100%. I think that this has been one of our biggest problems over the years.

Here's a huge AMEN to that brother dawg. For me the enigma with Coach Richt is that as Christian he doesn't seem to consider discipline as a priority in his coaching philosophy yet discipline in life is one of the most fundamental aspects of being a disciple of Christ. Not that I want CMR as a Christian to instill Christianity in our players but you would think that a key aspect of Christianity, discipline, would translate well to the coaching of football.

You are right, there. Discipline plays a key role in right and proper action, which I know CMR tries to instill in the kids off the field. Discipline and self-control are necessary parts of a successful and productive life, so that needs to be priority #1 for CMR, IMO. That will extend beyond the football field, but it is very important for success on the field, as well.

You could pick out any game with any coordinator where he struggled. It's not seeing the forest for the trees. Overall, he was outstanding. Put up record number of points and yards with a shell of an offense. You're just intent on firing everyone not matter what.

How about Rev. Richt calling plays and we hire a Special Teams coach?

Absolutely not. Someone forgot why Bobo was made OC in the first place.

Richt does not look like he motivates on the sideline. He just looks like he is walking around reciting the gospel.

Well, yea, that's him

It better not have or his house is getting so egged. Until I see the pistol again I will refuse to call him anything other than an ok OC.

You cannot giveth and taketh the pistol so willy nilly. fricking asshat gave me blueballs for an entire season.

And apparently those too

Well, I guess Richt was play caller for those seasons but those Georgia teams were far more defensive-strengthed

Probably.

I just remember everyone getting tired of Richt calling the plays and then he handed it to Bobo and it's been a hate, love, hate relationship since.

Personally I find him adequate. Nothing more, sometimes less.

I think that Bobo holds out for something a little better than Vandy. Losing Bobo would really hurt the program. He is a good OC and takes up the slack for Grantham.

Bobo isn't ready to be a head coach. He should work under someone other than Richt for a couple of years before he takes a hc job imo.

Richt is truly an enigma when it comes to discipline. On one hand,he is probably the harshest off the field disciplinarian in the SEC. However, after the whistle blows and the games start, his players seem as undisciplined as any in the SEC. Seems like they would mirror each other rather than conflict...but they don't.
