What makes you so sure the d's are easier this year?

I wouldn't consider SC, UF, or UT's D being improved. Mizzou and Vandy I would conceed.

Exactly... We only wanna throw underneath or over the top. We never try a crossing route to the big TE's cause it'd end in disaster about 75% of the time...SMH...

I just don't understand why its either the 5 yard curl or the 40 yard deep pass to Mitchell. What happened to the intermediates?

Good points. Seems we don't throw quick slants unless we are within the 5 yard line. All in all I don't have a huge problem with Schottenheimer. We'll have a better idea next year, I think. I know people want to see him go, but you just can't do that after one year. (My opinion)

Definitely not tougher. Auburn worse, Carolina worse, Missouri worse, GT (much) worse. Alabama is better than clemson, Florida is better than they were last year. Overall, easier schedule.

Overall....maybe easier. However, Missouri, Vanderbilt and probably Auburn (at this point) has better defense. Also, Alabama's defense is a huge upgrade over Clemsons last year. Florida is probably close to the same. So, from a defensive standpoint, I think it is a tougher schedule.

I wonder if Park regrets transferring. I know I do.

I though Park just quit and never enrolled at another school. Maybe he just sat up in the stands and laughed.

Clemson had a pretty dang good defense last year. Our offense was just really good. Losing Will Friend was probably our biggest loss in the offseason. He may not have been the #1 recruiter in the world, but man he got some dang good play out of the OL.

Yeah, David Andrews was huge as well, but there's such a difference to me in the way we're blocking now. We're standing straight up instead of pushing forward. Pyke went from being one of the best in the SEC to the bench. I think he's been hurt a little, and Gurley and Chubb can make you look better than you really are, but it just seems like we had a technical change.

The peer pressure of watching the alpha dog next to you kick peoples' arse constantly has a huge motivating effect, especially when then person is less gifted and doing so through sheer force of will. Pyke, Kubs, Theus kicked arse last year because they would have looked like pussies if they didn't, imo.

At least I think that was a huge part of it. They still pass block pretty well (implies that they're still technically sound) but just haven't shown any want-to at all.

That makes sense. Andrews just cares about football so much more than those other guys and works his arse off. Theus and co. would rather hang out in Generals and pick-up some hot chick than win a football game. Not saying I blame them, but it's not a mutually exclusive thing. They can work their asses off and still get girls if they want.

The question is are we getting any OL recruits to come in and make this better? Cleveland is a big dude but will he be able to contribute immediately and I would love to get the #1 OL recruits every cycle but that ain't happening

Maybe. Perhaps I misspoke when I said it was a huge upgrade, but I still don't think Clemson's was as good as Alabama's this year.

UF, SC, and UT have all dropped their scoring D by 3 or more points per game this year.
