Want even more proof Bobo was an amazing OC, and It's time for Schotty to go? And yes, I know there is a talent difference as well.

In this format, I will give us credit for points for any possession starting outside our opponent's 40 yard-line if that seems ok with everyone.

ULM: 35 points
Vandy: 17 points (+2 missed FG)
USC: 38 points
Southern: 34 points (+1 missed FG)
Alabama: 10 points
Tennessee: 10 points (+1 missed FG)
Mizzou: 9 points (+1 missed FG)
Florida: 0 points
Kentucky: 21 points
Auburn: 10 points

For a grand total of: 18.4 points per game (+5 missed FG)

For comparison sake, last year we averaged 31.2 offensive points per game (+3 missed FG, 1 missed XP) when starting outside our opponent's 40.

Several factors and I don't think the QB situation is the main issue:
1. I think we are missing Bobo more than most expected.
2. Losing Chubb was huge plus Michel broke a bone in his hand.
3. We are definitely missing David Andrews at Center.
4. Honestly, if not for these other aspects, I think Lambert would have been as serviceable this season as Mason was last season.
5. Other factors: We didn't play Bama last season and both Tennessee and Florida are better teams than they were last season.

Nobody wants anymore proof. Most rational, informed dawg fans knew what we had in Bobo. Injuries aside, it would've been very difficult to match his production as OC.

Very true. That said, even with Bobo this offense was probably going to be absolutely awful.

Bobo had moments but always found a way to fail.

When his plan is working he is fine. Any small little hitch or hurdle and he is done. Not a very bright mind, lacks creativity, basic schemes, and no DC in the league feared him.

Very poor game planner

Your issues with Bobo have got to be on a personal level at this point.

The proverbial canyon between Bobo's work with our offense and Schitty's ineptitude is both deep and wide

It's looking that way at this point. Hopefully it is a transitional adjustment going to a new OC combined with another plague of injuries. But if the lack of offensive production persists into 2016 then I think the focal point will be pretty obvious: the change in offensive coaching.

Crappier talent, tougher schedule, plus a brand new o? Hard to expect much better than an average sec offense.

IMO, the biggest problem with this offense is the complete lack of ability to get any push from the OL in the running game. Nothing else in our offense works if that is the case, unless we have a NFL prospect QB. We don't have that.

At first I wanted to argue the talent part of your post...but when you have a downgrade at QB...last season we had Gurley and a healthy Chubb, this year a hurt Chubb and a hurt Michel, lost Andrews at C, and a downgrade at WR....well, when you are right, you are right.

I'm not sure the Offensive scheme is that much different, but adding Alabama to the schedule and the downgrade in talent....hopefully we will see improvement next year. I haven't really been shocked by the playcalling, although it could be a bit better, but enough to cause this big of a dropoff?

It isn't that much different except for more two tight end sets and two receivers, but I think that is due to personnel.

The play calling has been better over the past two weeks, I just don't understand why its either the 5 yard curl or the 40 yard deep pass to Mitchell. What happened to the intermediates? And why did it take the entire month of October to adjust?

We don't trust our QBs to throw it between the LBs and the safeties imo

I think Conley and Bennet were also huge in helping Mason last year. We are missing those guys something terrible.

Ding, ding, ding!!! Winner, winner, chicken dinner!! This is the problem period. It became more evident when Chubb went down.

I think that's true but the receivers are either open or not. During the Auburn game, one of the commentators highlighted just such a play suggesting that Lambert missed a pass opportunity. But honestly when I watched the replay the receiver was only up for like a split second and I was thinking to myself that it was a good thing he didn't try to squeeze that in.

We obviously have multiple problems on offense but one of them is lack of play design that opens up receivers and lack of precision timing between the QB and receivers. Good passing teams seem to find ways to get receivers open or maybe they just have better receivers than we do. A good receiver has to have moves/the ability to create doubt in the mind of the defender as to the reception point of the pass pattern. And the play must be so well practiced that the QB knows exactly where the receiver should receive the ball before he makes his final move. In other words the QB throws the ball before the receiver reaches the end point.

This is the kind of thing that fans see when they conclude that we are not a well coached team. Commentators will say something like: Well, the QB and receiver obviously weren't on the same page during that play. It's tough. Everything has to come together to create a successful play but that's what we paying offensive coaches and players to do.

You think our schedule is tougher? I feel like we just traded Clemson for Bama.

Definitely not tougher. Auburn worse, Carolina worse, Missouri worse, GT (much) worse.

Alabama is better than clemson, Florida is better than they were last year.

Overall, easier schedule.

That in itself is a big difference imo, and then add in what I consider improved SC, UF, Vandy, Mizzou, and UT D's.
