B) he had a ton of first years.
That were just as bad at the end of the year as they were to start.

and if you really think regardless of stats that Lakatos did a good job you must be blind. Every single DB this year was hot garbage. They couldn't even get the basics right.

Georgia: Defensive backs coach Scott Lakatos has resigned due to personal reasons. A couple of names that could emerge are long-time Texas defensive backs coach Duane Akina and former Texas and Mississippi State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz.

Let's consider all of the stats
Yards per game:
13: 59th behind sec schools Ole Miss, Tenn., Miss st, LSU (who also had a very young secondary), South Carolina, Bama, and Florida.
12: 8th behind Bama
11: 10th behind LSU, Florida, Bama
10: 16th behind Kentucky, Bama, Florida, LSU
PCT:
13: 48th behind Auburn, a&m, Tenn, LSU, Bama, Florida
12: 36th behind South Carolina, LSU, Bama, Vandy, Florida
11: 5th behind South Carolina, Bama
10: 21st behind Kentucky, Florida, Bama
INT:
13: 109th behind everyone but Kentucky
12: 44th behind Ole Miss, South Carolina, LSU, Bama, Miss St, Florida
11: 5th
10: 27th behind Tenn, Mizzou, LSU, Bama, Florida
So 2011 was a good year I do have to say that. Other than that.....
and except for 2013 those were all years where he had NFL players back there

If you're satisfied not having one of the top secondaries with as much talent as we had/have then by all means keep sucking Lakatos off but the rest of us know he has been garbage for some time and I think the stats back that up.

upvoted for research analysis. Numbers are what they are. He had a bad year. How many years was Lakatos the DB Coach?

Hmm. Lakatos had pretty good passing defense in his first three years.
Let's hope we bring in someone good.

Lakatos was fine.
2013 had 3 true freshmen and a true sophomore at a new position with way too much responsibility this year... and people want to blame lakatos.
Those people have it out for blood and they don't care whose.

So he has been garbage for quite some time? Hell, you didn't even know when UGA hired him. Perhaps you also forgot that he was missing quite a few from the starting secondary for 2-4 games at the beginning of 2012.
Was he the best DB coach ever? No. Did he recruit particularly well? No. But his only truly bad year was this one when he was dealing with basically an entirely brand new starting secondary that had the added bonus of being hurt through much of preseason camp during a year where he obviously had other things going on off the field as well.
Some people act as though these coaches are personally food from their children's plates. However, they would likely fall over dead if they were asked to put the hours in that anyone on a major college staff puts in. Are all major college coaches overpaid- most likely, but then again, we the fans are as much responsible for that as any AD.

so I got the year wrong off memory and that's some huge deal? Quit being so sensitive. He must be a personal friend of yours or something I've never seen you be so sensitive.

No I'm well aware.

Compared to the rest of the SEC- NO.

Vandy's ex-DB coach is available and seems pretty good. George Barlow. They have had some pretty good pass defenses lately.

I hope we can finally get someone good, but we probably go cheap like usual.

Pass defense under Lakatos:
2010 16th
2011 10th
2012 8th
2013 59th
To me this was nothing more than a convenient firing to appease the fanbase, but did nothing to address the real issues with the team. A scapegoat if you will. Besides what happened to continuity?

You remind me of the Bobo haters who say he's only good because of the talent he has around him CSL was a solid Coach but struggled this year.

What are the basics?
Are you better than any of the current players or worse?
