The few I know are Travaris Robinson at UF and Chip West at UVA. Either would be a bad arse hire

I want the Va Tech DB coach.

Lakatos was awful.

I would expect us to have a guy pretty quickly. Coaches convention is this weekend and will be a good time to interview people.

ONE: If Lakatos' resignation was foreseen from so way back like y'all say, then why isn't there already a replacement for his job in place?

TWO: I always understood the issue was with Grantham's complex cover schemes, not any position coach's effectiveness. Grantham remains on staff??

Want to wish Lak the best. He wasn't the best fit coming from the NE area.

Grantham made a homerun hire with Wilson. It won't be long before he gets a promotion or offer from another program...

TG should take his time with the new hire.

Because their seemed to be some indecisiveness as to whether he would resign or figure out a better way to deal with it.

Coverage schemes are not normally "complex" so I find that hard to believe.

Not one player has gotten better under Lakatos. Not one player made any progress from the beginning to the end of the year.

So welcome back, Willie? pls

In all seriousness, I am ecstatic at this news. So glad we get to go coach shopping. DB has been a weak point for a long time.

Wasn't he just UT DC? and isn't he more of a LB coach?

bullshite. Yep, he was such a bad DB coach that he lost nearly an entire secondary to the NFL last year. Look at the passing defense ratings every year he was at UGA, THis is the only crappy year- when A) there apparently is a reason he hasn't been completely concentrating on the program and B) he had a ton of first years.\\

He was not a great recruiter, but your statements have been rather ignorant on this thread.

Yeah. Doesn't have much experience as a DB's coach. How about former Longhorn Coach Duane Akina?

Diaz has 4 years coaching DBs. 2 with MTSU and 2 with NC State. Can't find any stats on Pass D for those years except 2007 which they finished 40th.

The kicker is he has ST experience and coached with Richt back in FSU.

EDIT:
2004 NC State finished 2nd in pass D behind Bama at 119 ypg.

2005 NC State finished 27th in pass D at 191.5 ypg.

2006 MTSU finished 63rd in pass D at 204 ypg.

2007 MTSU finished 41st in pass D at 215 ypg.

Have to get him to rehumble himself and come be a position coach at UGA. I guess it could happen.

Yeah and all those guys were already studs when he got there.

Lakatos got there in 2011.

Rambo was already a starter, Shawn Williams already a starter, and Commings was already a starter.

Rambo in 2010: All-SEC Third Team by Phil Steele.

Williams in 2010: Earned one of team's Most Improved Player Awards.
Appeared in 13 games making three starts

Commings in 2010: Earned one of team's Most Improved Player Awards.
Appeared in 12 games making nine starts
