From Tuesday's practice notes...

The other tidbit concerns Tyler Catalina, the graduate transfer who has been expected to contend for a starting spot at left or right tackle. But going by one drill during Tuesday’s practice, Catalina was actually working on the third team, at left tackle. He had been working second team in the same drill the rest of the preseason. Aulden Bynum was working second team in Catalina’s place.

I was hoping that Catalina was a serious contender to start at left tackle and allow Wynn to move back inside. It's still early but this report makes me wonder if he would start at either tackle position. But I suppose we'll see where things stand in a month.

But let's make some conclusions off of this. Christ.

Sometimes you can draw conclusions quickly.

Laremy Tunsil got put in the starting tackle slot in his first week of practice at Ole Miss. And went on to start every game at left tackle, giving up one sack the whole season and being named second team All SEC.

As a true freshman.

Catalina played four seasons at the college level before he got here. If he were going to be a dominant force, don't you think we would already see signs of him taking over the left tackle slot?

I'll hold out hope but this is for all the marbles...starting left tackle for an upper tier SEC team...

It's one drill. I'll worry when it's a lot more than that.

Going by one drill at practice, Eason is out for the year as he had to sit out for shoulder soreness.

Might be a little early for this comparison.

Who thought he was going to be Tunsil 2.0? We didn't have a prototypical LT and he has the size and length.

And he's been with the ones a LOT at practice. I bet you can find a practice report where Tunsil was playing with the twos or threes during his career. All it takes is one bad meeting, practice, workout, etc..

In short- chill the frick out dude.

Regardless if the dude starts or not, he provides quality depth, which in the SEC...is a must have in the trenches.

It's the lingering effects of PTSD from CMR having our players show up for only 80% of the games.

Wait. It was Richt's fault players got injured?
If somebody gets hurt this year, whose fault will it be?

Catalina has ran with the 1's and 2's plenty. It's called rotation. And comparing Laremy Tunsil and Tyler Catalina is mind boggling.

If you want to build a fire under an experienced guy you make him work for it. From what I have read he is struggling more from conditioning in our heat than from technique.

Cause you know, just because. Eason's shoulder is why Ron Zook cost us a MNC and why UF beat us by 30 with their worst team(s) in 25 years.

Remember that time in 2012 when John Jenkins couldn't make it through a fall practice without overheating and passing out but he went on to start every game for us that year at nose tackle?

Wasn't that some shite?
