Not really. I was just searching some UGA related images and came across this. I honestly have to say....it looks pretty damn good.

Course, I'm all in favor of black jerseys, too, but whatever.

hideous. Looks like a 16 year old designed it to be cool, while at the same time defecating on hundreds of years of history. Awful.

....okay then. We know where you lie on this.

But don't get carried away with "hundreds of years of history". That simply isn't true. In the least.

I don't like the other version of this I've seen with the silver "G" or the pro-combats we actually did wear, but something about the carbon fiber look and the black-on-black lettering kinda piques my interest.

I have to admit I am more of a traditionalist, too. It reminds me too much of the Combat Uniforms. I like our red helmets. Sorry.

I DO like the red helmets, black jerseys and silver/grey pants, though. That's as far out as I get.

I also liked the red helmets, white jerseys and red pants they wore when herschel was at UGA.

Are you talking about wild, far out stuff, or moving away from the traditional uniforms they normally wear?
LSU wears different uniforms from time to time.

But, in all seriousness, I don't think the uniform colors have a lot to do with winning the National Championship.

welp, we've had a red helmet for the last 51 years. Prior to that we wore a silver helmet. So, I'd say doing something completely against the grain and against the tradition/norm/standard would be ignoring hundreds of years of history. Ok, maybe not hundreds, so I'll say "ignoring the history of our program during the time we've worn hard helmets"

So what was the word when we switched to red? Were people as leery of accepting that change as we are of a one-off, occasional switch-up?

It just seems silly to me.

not the reigning national champs so not talking about them

Bama...doesn't change...they worry about other more important shite like "the process" and how you completely do everything in your power to dominate your opponent in every facet of the game...

our program should focus on that and less on power ranger unis...

the black was and is ok...with red helmets and silver britches...but all the pro combat shite with the fancy helmets and all...

I'd like it better if they would put the red underlining on the inside of the G as well.

There was a study done once in the NFL. I remember reading it, but have no link as it was a long time ago. It concluded that teams that wore Black jerseys had a more proficient offense, especially the running game, because it is harder for the Defense to see the ball.

That said, I like our Red, but with Black occasionally.

Bama has done it, albeit a little less prominently. And they have done the all whites and many of their fans have no issues seeing that done again if you read their board during slow times (I even saw one recently).

And then there's these...

Not all currently reigning, but all have been champs multiple times since us and at least a couple have a valid argument as having at least as rich a tradition as we do (OSU most likely would be seen as having more).

Sorry to make you wait.

How was "not changing" working out for them before Saban got there?

I'll wait.

Ah. Sorry. I misunderstood. I thought you mean ANY reigning National Champions as in "at the time".

I understand what you are saying, but I really don't think that is the secret to their success. I doubt uniforms take up valuable practice, or game prep time from any program.

Don't misunderstand me. I am more of a traditionalist and like staying with what we have, too. I just don't think the uniforms have anything to do with winning a National Championship.

I'm with you. I HATED/HATE those things!

I remember Newnan came out one year wearing brown jersey's. Their colors were blue and white, I think. Of course, it had nothing to do with trying to hide the ball, I'm sure!

the only one that looks decent for any of those teams is the white helmet LSU one...and that is actually one of their unis if I am not mistaken...

Agreed on all counts. Pretty much sums it up.

I like the occasional black jerseys and the TRUE silver pants, but hell, we haven't worn those in at least a decade now.

I simply get tired of the whole "don't change the unis...we lost to BAMA last time!" crap.
