If Georgia doesn't completely tank it's Gurleys to lose. He will get the benefit of playing in the SEC.

And because Gurley just looks outright more impressive. Mariotta is just another fast, skinny qb in a system designed ot enhance his athletic abilities. Todd Gurley is a goddamned war machine running through, around, and over people. He is carrying his team on his back and everyone knows it. But no one can seem to stop him.

In 10 years, everyone will still remember Gurley. Mariotta will go the way of Jeremiah Masoli, Colt Brennan, Tommy Chang, and all the other QBs that amassed stupid numbers. Plus, I think there's a general national fatigue of heisman winning QBs (Eric Crouch, Chris Weinke, Carson Palmer, Troy Smith, Matt Leinart, Jason White, Sam Bradford, Robert Griffin, Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel, Jameis Winston. Since Ron Dayne won it in 1999, there have only been two non-QBs to win it and one of them was stripped of the title).

Mariota looks better than in previous years when it comes to passing but he still gets plenty of passing yards by getting his WR the ball in space quickly.

A majority of Gurley's yards have been all him, think of how many times he has been hit behind the line and still busted out a 20+ yard run.

And they ignore that Gurley only played about 5 snaps in the game vs Troy. The people that justify the heisman based solely on stats get on my nerves. At the end of the day, Gurley passes the eyeball test more than anyone else and that's something stats won't be able to convey. He is a man among boys and it isn't even fair when he comes out on the field.

That's the thing: Gurley has a highlight reel and it's almost nothing but insane broken tackles behind the line and downfield, five yard leaps into the endzone, outrunning DBs. He's a generational player. Mariotta is a great QB, but I've seen him plenty of times before in the past 10 years.

To be fair to Aschoff in this article (whom I normally hate), he does point this out and insists that Gurley's gaudy numbers could easily be worse.

Ah ok my bad. I skimmed the article because most of those articles usually are written pretty poorly.

Here's a stat-
His YPC is the highest among the top-10 rushers up to this point. (Maybe the kid from GA So. is a little higher...but they played tech so...)

Good lord, the Oregon butthurt is out of this world. Mariota is a fine player and will likely be a good pro. Gurley is the best college RB since Adrian Peterson who was the best college back since Barry Sanders, in my opinion. Stats only tell part of the story, and obviously the Oregon cats think its all stats. Mariota has not had to literally CARRY his team. This award, given as it SHOULD be, is to recognize the best college football player in America regardless of team record, or position played. There have been many years that the award should have been given to a defensive player.

Oh yea Gurley has ridiculous stats that should put him in the discussion all by themselves. Just saying when you look at the whole picture, it should make it clear even to a non-biased observer.

The Northwest is kinda weird. They are generally extremely liberal folks with a hippy-esque way of life but, at the same time, sort of think of themselves as more highly evolved as human beings than folks from other parts of the country. Hell, the whole West Coast seems to be that way, to be honest.

What's funnier is the damn Nebraska fans getting even more butthurt about Ameer. Dude's a good player but they haven't faced even a decent defense yet so far. Gurley's worst performance came against the only bad team we have played so far, 6 carries for 73 (lol)

Yeah, the attention Gurley is getting is really getting to Nebraska fans. A lot of Husker fans seem to think there is an "ESECPN" scheme to promote Gurley over Abdullah.

My favorite are the Nebraska fans that are using last year's Gator Bowl stats to show that Ameer is better.

Or Oregon fans using 2013 UT vs. 2014 UT as a good measuring stick for comparison

Frick Oregon.

Put Gurley and Mariota in a cage match and Gurley would eat Mariota and crap out Payton Manning.

It's going to be a race to the finish, but mainly because Mariota will twitter flitter around feasting on pansies while Gurley takes on 11 defenders each play who know that Gurley is our entire offense.

Frick Oregon, Frick their schizo uniforms and frick a duck.

How is mariota different from any other Oregon qb in recent years? Take him out, replace with backup, they're still a decent team. Take Gurley out and we are colossally fricked.

Mariota can play. He's been good enough to make people think Chip wasn't important to their offense and no one remembers the name of the "stud" that came before him. Oregon is in for a ride awakening when Mariota leaves, he's special.

All that being said he can't hold Gurley's jock strap. He's easily as valuable to this team as McFadden was to Arkansas in 2007. If Gurley stays healthy and doesn't win the Heisman the voters should all sit around a table and share a big old dick. One big veiny bite at a time.
