So Wasson isn't the savior someone thought he would be?

Heard some grumblings from people at work that it doesn't look like Eason is holding the ball at the correct angle for the kick.....maybe true if so then maybe they should put Lambert out there

I've been saying this for awhile. The holding is very inconsistent and makes it tough on the kickers. I'd like to judge them when they get a consistent laces out, angled hold.

He has been hurt, so who knows, but they did spot him at practice, so he does exist.

For the last three years all I've heard from some here is that the talent is on the team but Richt can't coach. Now all of a sudden there is no talent on the field because Richt can't recruit.

Previous coach is responsible for most of the roster a new coach inherits. Just the truth. Richt more than anyone knew we didnt have a kicker for this year, and he didnt have one lined up.

Richt knew a lot of things. Richt quit on UGA long before he was fired and Pruitt called him out on it. He knew at the beginning of '15 that he would be back at Miami. Kirby did a masterful job of holding things together, yet the misinformed are still criticizing him. Some of you folks need to get real.

This argument would go along with the story about them kicking well in practice... Surely JE is not holding for them in practice- you think?

There were a number of people who pointed out that Richt's recruiting was spotty and often left glaring weaknesses because he didn't recruit based on needs. It was what it was, and we are where we are. Smart will either fix it or get replaced.

The recruiting rankings made us the 4th best team in the SEC. Top 10 in the country for recruiting? Sure. But when you're losing about 3 games a year because of conference play... you aren't going to get a lot of top 10 finishes.

And that doesn't even take into account the attrition and lack of roster management (teams on probation with more scholarship players than us).

My spouse is a 65 year old alumnus and can consistently make a 30 yard FG. Do we need him?

No, but we can blame Mike Ridge for him not being on the roster.

Hell, what's Tim Wakefield doing?

Wow. If you know who Tim Wakefield is and that he threw the knuckleball you must be a big baseball fan!

For the record, I used to be a big baseball fan and played in a lot of rotisserie leagues. At one time I could have named the roster of all the MLB teams and a good portion of their minor league systems. Now? Nowhere near that much anymore.

I just told you about one the other day. How did you already forget? Mitchell Wasson is his name.

Hey, what can I say? I'm an old guy. If it happened more than 5 minutes ago, there is a good chance I've forgotten it!

Are you saying Smart signed the 2013, 2014, and 2015 classes, and had 12+ months to recruit players to UGA for 2016? If so, thats new to all of us.

I don't think he is saying that at all. But he is right that there are a lot of kickers out there, and everybody though Blankenship was going to be the man. I DO remember the YouTube video of him and how everybody was fired up about him.

Out of curiosity....at what point do you think Obama should have quit blaming Bush?......And....at what point will everybody stop blaming Richt?

As dawgslife said, I heard about Blank being awful last year, and once Kirby found out, he did do something about it:

This is true. It began back in the Spring, I believe. So my next question would be, why haven't we seen Wasson? Most of our past kickers have started off as freshmen, I believe.

Maybe he isn't very good either.

From what I've read, it sounds like Ham's struggles kind of caught everybody off guard. He had been at least competent in practice.

Then why are all the fingers being pointed at Richt, if Smart's guy can't beat out Richt's guy?

Then all fingers need to be pointed at the coach thta brought him in. Richt deserves some criticism. I've been saying this, but it's gotten ridiculous.

Probably a confidence thing, then. If he is able to do it and just can't in a pressure situation it sounds like confidence. He whiffed badly on his first one and it got into his head. I would hope that the Special Teams coach is working with him......and I am sure he is. But, if it is his confidence.....that's just tough, especially for a kicker.
