And Jacobs at AU brags about his $16 million surplus and it being the reason that AU signed Muschamp and will do "whatever it takes" to contend for a national title.

Imagine how long he would be employed there if he said he gave half the surplus to the Auburn Student Fund and that he didn't want to get caught up in the coaching $ arms race?

Does anybody know if any other schools take Athletic money and transfer it to the Academic side? Just wondering.

THE FUTURE OF UGA

With its future secure in the powerful and profitable Southeastern Conference, McGarity says the UGA athletic department will be able to contribute its profits back to the university’s general fund for years to come.

“When we’re able to have a good year financially, we’re able to share that wealth,” McGarity says. “We have very few sources of revenue coming in, and we have to make sure we’re doing a good job managing those resources."

Yet... This is what we are told when we are asked to donate to the Hartman Fund....

The Georgia Bulldog Club is the fundraising arm of the Athletic Association charged with providing student-athlete scholarships, first class facilities and the financial support necessary for each of UGA’s 21 varsity sport programs.

As a member of The Georgia Bulldog Club your commitment to Georgia Athletics is the lifeblood of our athletic program. The Athletic Association receives no federal, state or university funding; therefore it relies on the annual contributions from alumni and friends to provide our deserving student-athletes with the necessary academic and athletic tools to compete among the nation’s best.

We still don't know the exact amount we're going to get from the SECN and TV revenue this year...some are specualating the amount to be double from last year...somewhere around $35 to $40 million per school.

Love to see what happens to those extra funds this spring.

Wish someone could make a gif titled "Fiscal Responsibility" with McGarity out front in a UGA jacket pointing a sword and yelling "charge." And a host of other ADs wearing their University's gear (Bama, AU, Michigan,LSU, And a ton of others) behind him and walking the other direction with their heads turned back looking at him. Things like "yeah!", "go get em", "we are right behind you!" Coming from their mouths.
