I'm sure he had adrenaline coming out of his arse but I just wanted to see a little better decision making to feel comfortable with him playing a full year at QB.
He has a gunslinger mentality. This year will be the opposite of Mason. Ramsey is going to try and hit the deep balls and make throws that Mason would never even consider. It's going to be a completely diffrent look at QB.

shite, that's right. My bad. A backup nonetheless...

That's what I don't want to see
Our greatest shot at winning anything this year will be controlling the clock and grinding teams into the ground. We are going to have close to the optimal combo of rushing attack and defense.
Our RB's can all run for 5 yards a pop. I want to see 7 minute drives and a defense that is fresh and ready in the 4th quarter. Ideally, Ramsey could flash that deep ball to clear out the box, but I think regularly trying to complete those passes will eat into our true strengths on offense.
That's why I don't hate the idea of Lambert coming in and starting. He's got more arm strength than Mason, and more game experience than Ramsey. He's a meld of the two, it would seem. The big question is whether Ramsey can control those gunslinger instincts. If we are regularly throwing for 300+ yards, I don't think we are maximizing our offensive potential.

I also want to see a lot of long, time-consuming drives enabled by strong running and high percentage passing. Defenses cannot survive in the Georgia heat if they are on the field for a long time. Controlling risk should be the top priority.

I think the 8:30+ drive that finished off the last USCjr game at Sanford is quintessential UGA football. Punish the defense all game and then step on their throat by refusing to let go of the ball. One of the Dawgs' finest moments in recent history, if you ask me.
More of that.
More of that.

caught some yesterday and this morning. Man, Ramsey just really makes me nervous. Sure he has potential to be better than Mason (ie, he has more natural talent) but he just really doesn't look like a good QB.
DJ in 02, JT in 05, Cox in 06, Mason in 14...all those guys at least showed us something in their first good starting experiences that we could hang a hat on. Ramsey hasn't really done much of that from what I remember.

For all the game footage we have of Ramsey, he seems to force throws way too much, throwing into double or triple coverage. I honestly haven't seen anything other than a strong arm. He isn't too accurate and makes throws he really shouldn't be making.
Don't know how Lambert will stack up, but he is already behind the others on the playbook. I would rather have Faton start if he can just do what Mason did last year and just throw 10 yd safe passes to move the chains. With the way our team is stacked up, we really only need a qb to hand the ball off for the most part and not get fancy and have turnovers on forced passes.
Whoever our qb is, I hope it gets settled by the start of the season. We need the qb to be 100% ready for SEC play, and luckily we have some cupcakes to build up the starter. Thats why we need a defined starter by gm1 and have him build up his confidence in these easy games.

Baxter, I've never heard that, what was wrong with his eye?

BTW, I don't hate Ramsey. I wish him the best and hope he can be a great QB. He just made some really bad throws in that game and seems to always look like a deer in headlights. Then Richt/Lilly showed confidence in him and went for 4th and 11 and he made a terrible throw. I hope he's working through the summer.

Well that will tend to happen when you're forced in to a game without warning in less than ideal weather conditions.

Just curious...what is triple coverage? Can you break it down and explain it to me?

Ramsey ran a wing T offense in high school I think he is more than capable of handing the ball off to Chubb and taking the throws the defense has given him.

He had some sort of eye infection iirc. No idea how much it affected him

Later in the game:
There are 4 defenders in that area, yet the perfect pass had to be made and he did make it. But why not throw it somewhere else since most of the coverage is at that spot.

Yeah, there were three defenders close to the receiver. That was a play where Ramsey faced a hard rush and panicked. Instead of taking a sack he threw up an easy interception.

On the first set of pictures the ball hit the defender in the hands and should of caught it, but I didn't want to post that pic.
During the 2nd set of pictures that was probably his 3rd or 4th throw of the game, with 2 of 3(4) being terrible decisions, regardless if he completed it or not.
^This last picture, you can see the LB breaking on the ball, read the play the whole way. He is standing on the Green line, w/ the 40 yard line arrow pointing at him. Luckily, the ball was thrown horrible and none of the 4 players in that area had a chance.
This is the triple coverage and forced throws we are all talking about. If he can fix it, then we will be great.

wait...if the lb is reading the QB, how can he be a part of this triple coverage thing you speak of? What defense was UL in?
Posted on 6/8/15 at 11:40 pm to Peter Buck
he completed both passes you used as examples of bad decisions. If you are throwing passes in that part of the field, you are going to have to throw it over or between LBs dropping into their zone...

Are you kidding me? He completed 1 of the passes in the pictures I've shown of 3 passing plays in the Belk bowl. Most of Ramsey's throws were forced throws into traffic. If he is throwing the ball to the guy w/ 3-4 guys right around them, then there has to be someone else open or in single coverage that would be the higher % play.
You also ignore that 2 of those picture sets, should of been INTs, plus the 1 INT that came in the game. That is a lot of bad decisions. Plus on the LB, he read Ramsey's eyes the whole time. Ramsey stared down the WR....you act like this is a good thing.
