Re-Watching the Belk Bowl now

I now see the Lambert transfer, Ramsey is not ready for SEC prime time. Hutson had Loserville on their heels and then Ramsey farted up the field. We rode our Lamborghini Mr. Chubb for 267 yards. We will wear him down if we do that every game. Ramsey is not the answer, looking forward to seeing what Lambert can do!
GO DAWGS!
P.S- It was cool seeing Dirty Bobby all pissed and Granthy with egg on his face again!

Watched it as well. Man, Sanders is gonna be a force in that defensive backfield. Always near the play.

I don't know how you can just come to this conclusion after watching a game where a backup QB was unexpectedly thrust in to a game. Not to mention it was low 40's and raining.
And what have you seen from Lambert to show that he's better than Brice? Not saying he won't be better or that he already isn't. We just don't really know much about him. Who's to say that Bauta just doesn't run away with this thing in fall practice?
Just seems like you're drawing conclusions based on very little evidence.

Ramsey also had a jacked up eye. Couldn't see the coverages.

I don't understand a the Ramsey hate. The kid is clearly talented and Schotty has worked with plenty of qbs to be able to teach someone how to run the position. Yea we will have some growing pains but we are gonna have those regardless of who we put out there.

At least the season begins with two soft games so there is more time to sort things out. I too doubt that Ramsey has the ability to make good decisions and avoid turnovers. If Brice is the guy I hope he surprises all the doubters.

I think he'll make some mistakes but I'm gonna wait and see before I say he can't. Hell, he may not even win the position but there's nothing we can do but wait and see.

The downside of recruiting hype in general is that people have completely unreasonable expectations of young players, especially QBs.

It probably didn't help watching Ohio State win a national title with a 3rd string freshman.

Cardale Jones isn't a freshman. He was eligible for the draft. RS Sophomore last year who also spent a year at prep school iirc

Gotta realize that was truly a once in a generation, maybe a lifetime, type of situation. I doubt we will ever see again in our lifetimes a situation where all 3 QBs 1-3 perform at that high a level, where #3 fills in for 1 and 2 and doesnt' miss a beat and leads them to a title.
For 99% of teams, the dropoff from 1 to 3 is gargantuan.

Ramsey isn't a freshman either ....He is also a Redshirt Sophmore.

On a more local note, offensive production of the Dawgs not dropping off following Gurley's suspension/injury was a pretty rare occurrence, too. Not a lot of teams NOT named Alabama could have had someone like Chubb waiting in the wings.

Urban Meyer is the best coach in America. I don't think anyone can deny that.

He is now. Jones is now a RS Jr. He's had a full two years more development than Ramsey of you include the year at FUMA

I think if you are in the 3rd year in a program essentially a junior you should see a quality QB. If Ramsey doesn't play well I am all for benching him for an experienced QB like Lambert.

Sure. I just think the OP is off base declaring definitively that Ramsey is not the answer after a reserve appearance in the bowl game as a RS Fr.

He deserves a shot I think and I do think he trust his arm a little to much. He's looked rough at times but at the end of the day our qb should be able to just hand the ball off a ton and do some play action and be successful. I think we can win with any of them it's just a matter of getting the right guy to lead the group.

I think what caused the most concern was that his first instinct was to try and thread the needle so many times.
I would have been much happier if he had come out and throwm more checkdowns and shorter stuff, but he was slinging it at his #1 option way too often when there was quite literally nothing to throw to.
I'm sure he had adrenaline coming out of his arse but I just wanted to see a little better decision making to feel comfortable with him playing a full year at QB.

That's what happens to young players. The game starts moving really fast (especially when you were thrown in cold and unexpectedly), they panic, and the first read becomes the only read. It's next to impossible to create that sensation in practice. Usually that improves with experience and confidence. Sometimes it doesn't but we have no way of knowing that yet.
Frankly, I'd much rather see an inexperienced QB doing that than never looking downfield and checking down every time by default. At least he wasn't scared to make a mistake and threatened the defense.
