Lets say that the Tenn plan to stack the box and hold our running game back works, and the Dawgs are forced to find some points through the air. If Mason struggles will Richt take him out and put BR/FB in? I know there are some coaches out there that would in a heartbeat

That would be the most logical choice. I would imagine that BR would come in if HM is stinking up the place.

Doubtful. Maybe after a few games he'd get pulled.

I think you have to trust in Mason unless he looks absolutely terrible. I don't have more confidence in Ramsey or Bauta than I do in Mason at this point. Neither of them have any competitive experience in college and throwing them into the Tennessee game could definitely have worse results than Hutson will give us.

I wouldn't see HM getting pulled after 1 game
It's sink or swim with HM right now

Very doubtful, unless a)mason has already thrown about 4 picks, or b) we basically decide frick the intermediate, we're throwing bombs every play and we want Ramsey's arm.
Other than that, nah. And I mean we really don't have a precedent of this situation in Richt's tenure to compare to. There were a few games (UT 04 actually) but when Greene struggled we had DJ to come in. We don't have a DJ right now.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bauta get some snaps regardless. Kind of a Wild Dawg set but with more of a threat to pass, as well.

I like that idea, but not for too many snaps. Maybe 1 or 2 per half.

That would be awesome.
To answer OP, Mason isn't the type of guy who will just randomly stink up the place by throwing pick after pick. He's shown before that he is willing to check it down or take a sack instead of throwing an interception which is both good and bad (bad because he isn't agressive enough to throw intermediate/vertical throws).

I really don't see it. That's just not like us to do something like that. I think we're going to ride with HM and if we're going to get creative, it's going to be putting Sony or Todd back there in the shotgun.

I don't think it will be an issue as I don't think they can stop our running game even with the box loaded.

Putting them back in the QB spot in the shotgun would be so predictable.

I'd be surprised if we did that this game. And who cares if it's predictable. That's been the knock on Bobo (I've done it too) yet somehow it works. I don't care if they tell the defense what gap they're running through, if they can't stop it, it doesn't matter.

Maybe so, but I recall in the citrus bowl against nebraska we did that and gurley ran about 30 yards untouched for a touchdown. Just sayin

I doubt it. If we drop a few more games then I could see it happening though.

The only time I have ever seen CMR pull a QB during the game due to performance was when he brought in Joe Cox in 2006 to save the day against Colorado.
Don't forget 7 days later, when he pulled Joe Cox at ole miss to put in stafford.
also pulled DJ against tech in 04 to put in an injured greene.

No chance unless we are getting blown out (28 points) or blowing them out (21 and laaaate)

I'm with you. Mason would have to absolutely just bottom out to get pulled. Even then he'd probably start the next week.

I would love to see Georgia use Bauta like OU used the Belldozer
But, that said, I am still waiting on senor dicknuts to bring back the pistol so god forbid we get a Bautasaurus Package

if they stack the box...then we work the flats with IM....or Michel...and hit Bennettt or Conley on stuff over the middle...then when they back off...you go to Gurley again..its simple football really...basically a chess game...

I was at that game and remember the atrocious QB play throughout that game until Cox threw that game-winning TD. As WG stated earlier, we have no DJ this year. While Ramsey and Bauta look promising, they simply just do not know this offense like Mason. It would take a world record pathetic performance for Mason to get pulled.
