They say it's because he looked like a cue ball on a pool table, but I don't know why they spell it like that.

When you register your dog with the AKC, it must have a unique name. If another dog had previously been registered in the last 100 years or so, with the name Cue, then they would have to change it?
Just spitballing here...

i thought i had read an article where Seiler was quoted as saying he was named "que" as in bar-b-"que".

Squatch spells bar-b-que with a "cue" like a yankee...

When does Q become Uga already?
They had both Uga IX (Russ) and Q on sideline at bama game.
But, at the SEC Nation tailgate show, they brought Q for finebaum and the others to pet and make bad jokes about.

Yep...me and that damn Yankee Lewis Grizzard....among others...
The first one I found....
Barbecue y'all....although it's referred to in both the "cue" and "que" spelling.
We need a ruling.

It's bbq or barbeque
A "barbecue" is the propane fueled outdoor oven that yankees cook chicken nuggets on.

I'm not about one upmanship....I have a driving thirst for truth and knowledge. When I noticed it was spelled both ways it was my duty to note that. Plus I tried to get it in before you did.
I would still contend that bbq is the standard abbreviation but Que is Spanish word. Also I think It's based on a Cue Ball...not barbecue.
Plus we don't have Que Balls...a box is not a qube...you don't try to trick your girlfriend with a quebick zirconia. C'mon man...

Either spelling is acceptable. The dawg is named after a cue ball even tho it's spelled differently. And it's OK to trick your girlfriend if she is from Cuebeck.

No. It's not.
If Que was spanish like squatch giggles about, then...sure.... the poor dog would probably spell it "barbecue".
But, Que is from Georgia.........so I'm confident he'd spell it the correct way.

Ok. Actually barbecue is more often the spelling in print and has an older origin. Barbeque is an extended abortion of the acceptable abbreviations of Bar-b-q or BBQ. Where the phonemic sound of the letter represents the "cue".
It would be akin to taking the Xmas abbreviation for Christmas and start spelling it Xhristmas.
However the Barbeque has been reproduced enough to make it acceptable for most.
Now let's discuss cantankerous

Why don't we have this thing roaming the sidelines. He looks much more like the 1st uga anyhow. Nothing in the CMR era is manly or menacing with our program.
This fricker would tear smokey apart big deal the University coffers are full and tax free we can afford a law suit or two.
