Lambert and I'm thinking he probably starts each game unless there is some kind of implosion. This isnt a bad thing for it would mean that offensively the team is doing what Coach Smart expects and is performing well.
I understand many are anxious for Eason to play and he'll get some snaps but I'm not expecting him to be the starting QB this season, again barring an implosion. I don't think there is some grand plan afoot for Eason to be the starter by X game or whatever; however, I do believe as Coach Smart said that he has enough confidence in him to start him and if the circumstances dictate I have no doubt he will.

Reports from the scrimmage yesterday stated that Lambert took about half a dozen sacks in 15 pass attempts and either tried to dump the ball short or just threw it away the rest of the time because he's still too scared to throw the ball downfield. If we have to deal with a whole season of that crap again I may have an aneurysm, I'd much rather see Eason go through freshman growing pains but actually give our offense a little life.

Seriously. I'd rather see a talented true freshman gaining confidence with some great plays, though checked with an occasional interception/freshman mistake, then watch a happy-feet QB who doesn't even need happy feet because he wouldn't know what to do with them anyway.

I think Eason will be the starter.
I think Eason should be the starter.

I remember a few years ago when Clemson came to Athens and true freshman Deshaun Watson didn't start because Dabo went with Cole Stoudt. Eventually Deshaun did get in and threw an absolute dart and I remember thinking "oh shite, this kid is gonna play the rest of the game and destroy us"
Then Dabo didn't put Deshaun Watson back in.....
Then Cole Stoudt played more, and I was like "Yes, Dabo's a moron, he's gonna play the shitty senior who doesn't have the ability to light us up"
Should we play Eason? If his first TD pass is a good as Deshaun's, then we better effing play the kid

Watson played two more series the first half and practically the whole fourth-quarter. He was sacked two or three times.

Eason is starting the first game of the year.
I guarantee.
Reportedly, had 1 bad scrimmage.
I still say he starts.

2 years ago, Alabama went into the West Virginia game not knowing who their QB would be and alternated Sims and Coker until Sims earned the role. Last year, they went into the Wisconsin game in the same situation with Coker and Bateman until Coker won it.
I think CKS will be play it how Saban played his QB situation the past 2 years - playing both Lambert (starting Lambert in the first series) and Eason to see who rises up and takes the spot over (which will be Eason after a game or two)

sims only had 29 career attempts prior to that and Coker wasn't even on the team the prior year

prior to that game coker had 59 attempts at bama and bateman had 0.
Our situation isn't exactly apples to apples because unlike in those you mentioned, we KNOW for certain what we have in 1 of the QBs. With bama they didn't really know what they had with either guy.

I would rather that we limit our offense to accommodate a QB that is just learning it rather than limit it to accommodate a lack of talent. So, clearly I think Eason should start.
I think Lambert starts against UNC, though. Eason will see some action with a couple of scripted series. He'll see more and more PT as the season progresses and I think he starts by game 4.
I'm not totally ready to write off Ramsey, either. By a lot of reports, he has looked the most consistent when it comes to stretching the field. I think this staff will be more aggressive and checking down to a 5 yd out on 9/10 throws won't make Chaney happy when game time rolls around. Ramsey is still likely 3rd out of the 3, but I think if he can close strong, he just might get a chance.

I hear you and I agree, but I think Saban would still run it in a similar way, and that is kind of what Kirby has learned. I still think we narrow it down to two after this Saturday's scrimmage but I think that competition goes through the UNC game.

who knows?...but what I do know is how Smart's mentor would be (SABAN)...and the shite would be figured out by SEC play and probably wouldn't change after that barring complete meltdown.....you guys are used to the CMR way...my guess is we all have no idea cause this isn't CMR running the ship now...welcome to the Smart era...

I think Lambert will start against UNC and Eason will get snaps.
Eason will probably be starter later in the season, depending on how well he handles game-time pressure.
I think Lambert should be the starter against UNC and that Eason should work his way in gradually. CKS has said repeatedly that he doesn't want to put pressure on Eason and that he (Smart) alone should feel that pressure to win games. I think that will carry over to how they play the QB situation and that Lambert will be used to play it safe, letting the RBs and TEs do their think in the short game until the Eason beast is released.
