He's been a class act since joining the SEC. I can't knock him for retiring. I wish him the best.

Or because he has lymphoma. Sucks but hopefully he does alright.

True, but he could keep coaching if he wanted too. He said himself he could.

Maybe, getting a scare like that changes your priorities, perspective, etc

Seems like a strange time to announce it, though. After all the embarrassing events this week for miZzzouri. And when his team is playing a game in 24 hours.

I'm sure many coaching candidates will jump at this HC opportunity to make millions and coach in the SEC, but I wouldn't work for that idiot asylum for all the money in the world.

Some dude from St Louis paper said the news was about to get out before the school could control it. And they stayed under wraps about Michael Sam for years.

My gut tells me this is less about lymphoma..more about saving himself from inevitable turmoil and grief...imo he is in a no win situation.....It will be interesting to see who the new taker will be for that job...talking about walking in to a fire pit wearing gasoline underwear....good luck to them..

There is more to this story than his health.

He acted like a coward on this whole matter that the President should resign.
Whether the president should resign should never have been addressed by the football team players. He let it get out of control.

Frankly I would be believe that the powers at Missouri told him it was time he left.

I don't think they have any powers at Mizzou, Pres. and Chanc. stepped down.

They stepped down for political reasons but the people who have the money probably told the coach he was persona not grata.

Just like our president and Ad apparently do not control whether our coach stays. It is the folks with money. I would never let a coach near my university if they forgot where the money comes from.

Pinkel did more with less for 15 years. Missouri will be hard pressed to find a better coach especially in their current situation.

Helluva a good coach. The SEC will be lessor without him. I agree with the statement that given the current situation it will be tough to get a top tier candidate. I disagree with any statement that downplays the effect of being diagnosed with cancer. That is a life changing event and that may be the ying and the yang of this decision.

I wish him all the best. The C is a beast.
