That's why depth is important. Hopefully we have some this year.

Hope that doesn't mean Briscoe.

Maybe slid David down and fill the star or safety, whatever Davis was planned to start at, with a younger guy.

Not sure Rutgers will let him play for us this year.

I hope he's back by MSU. Big dropoff behind the starters at cornerback, unless McGhee has made some strides. Aaron Davis has experience there, but is not an SEC quality cornerback IMO.

Considering he's one of our best and most versatile DB's and we're in the SEC - I'm pretty confident in saying that Aaron Davis is an SEC quality cornerback.

I'm pretty confident that you're wrong, so I guess confidence settles nothing. We'll find out in games, just hopefully not meaningful games.

Wonder if this is like JT3's "foot" injury in '06? Maybe McGhee is pushing and MP got a little boo boo and Kirby says, "we had better be careful with this injury, Malcolm. We are going to need you in the big games down the road.", while he winks over Parrish's shoulder at TM.

Not saying it's likely, but crazier stuff has happened. We all love what Parrish brings to the table, but we all also know Kirby likes bigger DB's and Malcolm Parrish has a visible physical ceiling that maybe some of the others don't.

While he is shorter, he is probably the best tackling CB we have had in years so he is physical ceiling is very high IMO....this would be what, his 3rd year starting in the SEC?

I doubt Kirby would devalue those qualities.

Well he's started over 30 games at 3 different positions in the secondary. So I really hope he's out there.

Is your opinion based on anything other than you remembered he was a walk on?

Not in a secondary this razor thin. At this point, knowing the defense and where you're supposed to be is worth 4 inches on your frame.

Where do you people come from?

You mean his sprained ankle?

It's hard to debate on the internet, because people can't follow a simple one aspect viewpoint. I'm not saying that he hasn't played a lot of football for Georgia. I'm not saying he has no value to the team. I'm not saying I don't want him on the field. I'm not even saying I don't want him to play cornerback for the University of Georgia, if that's where he's needed.

What I am saying is very straightforward. I don't think that he has the physical skillset to play high level cornerback at this level of competition. If it can be avoided, meaning either Parrish returns or someone else steps up, I'd rather that we not have to use Davis at that position in the future. Not everyone who has ever played a position, or started at a position, is "SEC quality" at that position, at least not the way I use that phrase.

Yes, it's based on watching him play a fair amount at cornerback for UGA. My guess is that Kirby Smart doesn't think he's ideally suited for that position either, or else he'd have stayed at cornerback last season, instead of allowing Briscoe to struggle for half a year. Davis already had experience at corner, but Kirby moved him to safety and played a guy who continuously struggled (Briscoe). And it wasn't because we had nobody else who could do a better job at safety than Briscoe was doing at cornerback.

I've spent a few minutes trying to explain what I meant in the most transparent way I can. Hopefully it helps you understand what I mean, and you're welcome to disagree.

Yes...his sprained ankle...for frick sake, some of you folks latch onto the least important detail of a post to play "gotcha!" with...

I equated it as a "foot" injury because, while JT3 did have a sprained ankle, I think we all saw the writing on the wall that the ankle came at just about the time everyone was clamoring for Stafford and that ankle stayed bad the rest of the season apparently because you don't lose your starting position due to injury they say...but JT3 never came back and let's face it, the ankle is pretty close to the foot. So, for a bit of wild speculation, it wasn't so far off. It's not like I said "foot" when he actually had a broken arm.
