Craft beers have picked up a lot of steam here in Tallahassee the past 5 years. Over the past 3 though, several breweries have opened.

There's a bit of a beer revolution going on across the US. People are figuring out what they've been missing and want to drink better beer.

That's why Budweiser, Miller, etc. have started marketing "premium" beers

What breweries? My parents live in the area. I know momos brews their own beer but I doubt you're counting that.

Honestly I think as Americans our palette has changed. People want bold taste and flavor. You see this in coffee, tea and also beer. I love sweet tea but it needs to be brewed strong.

Me and a couple of friends have done some home brewing and have thought about starting a brewery here in Rome.

Well, there is Proof [link=(Proof )]https://www.proofbrewingco.com/[/link] that is opening next month. I've spoke to the owner of Proof years ago when he first came to Tallahassee. He mentioned he loved Athens and I want to say he worked up there for awhile but I could be wrong. Been awhile.

Then there is Grasslands [link=(Grasslands Brewing)]https://grasslandsbrewery.com/[/link]. They recently acquired their building but I don't know of a set date though. I know one of the owners of this place well. He is very well versed in beer and helped start another place called Fermentation Lounge [link=(Fermentation Lounge)]https://www.facebook.com/FermentationLounge#![/link]. If your parents like craft beers and such, they should really check Fermentation out.

The new law allows for: In a compromise, breweries can sell food onsite. If they do serve food, there is no consumption cap. (Currently 48 ounces.) Breweries can obtain retailers permit, to sell bottles/cans (of others) on site. Brewpubs can sell/distribute to wholesalers after converting license. (Would lose liquor license)
South Carolina joins fight to loosen beer laws for local breweries

Your move Deal
