frick THE GOD DAMN BRAVES. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

Really hard to be a Braves fan these days.

I'm pretty much done. Who the eff did we even get for him?!?

More young pitchers because apparently the other 1,000 young arms we've acquired in the last year or two just wasn't enough.

We got Erick Aybar and their 1st and 2nd pitching prospects. Horrible Trade.

They better start trading some these arms for a fricking bat

It seems like this regime would trade naming rights to the new stadium for a lower tier prospect if they could. I can only assume Freeman is next

Maybe we'll win another weekend series when the new stadium is finished.
Maybe.
Maybe.

So, we requested Harvey and Degromm from the Mets, got turned down, and promptly traded away arguably the best player on the team for scrap, a loaner, and a timeshare that we hope will pay off one day.
We deserve to be miserable.
We deserve to be miserable.

May as well trade Freeman at this point, dude will be old and out of his prime by the time we are somewhat ready to compete in our division again. Maybe we can get another one or two pitching prospects who probably won't ever see our rotation in exchange for him.

Don't you know? It takes a minimum 7 years to completely destroy a franchise before you can build it back up.

There's a bit of unhappiness amongst Angels fans, too:
If nobody's happy, maybe it's a good trade.

Simmons is defensive upgrade and offensive major downgrade. Giving up aybar, Ellis AND Newcomb is ATROCIOUS. So frustrated by this franchise. This tops all the other stupid offseason moves they’ve made these past few years!

I am reallyyyy hoping the reports are wrong!! We got fleeced. I don’t care how good his defense is, his offense is way below average. And we gave up a soon2be ACE and Ellis for him??
quote:
This trade is an absolute joke! We just gave up a good offensive shortstop, an ace in the making, and a solid back end rotation pitcher for a defensive shortstop!!! WHAT!?!?!
quote:
Just when I started believing in Eppler He pulls this shite. Trades all of our future away with Ayabr for Andrelton Simmons. ANDRELTON frickING SIMMONS . God I’m so done with this franchise. I can’t root for a team with such an idiotic front office. Instead of moving forward we take 2 steps back. frick you Eppler I’m done.
If nobody's happy, maybe it's a good trade.

I don't like the trade, but what I am finding infuriating as a Braves fan is the lack of consistency.
At the beginning of the season we trade away the best closer in the game, a solid power bat in Upton and a very inexpensive bat in Gattis. Sad to see them go, but there is a clear plan here. We needed to refill the depleted minor league system to compete for the next decade.
Half way through the season we trade a 24 year old arm who has already had success at the major league level and our top position prospect for a guy who is on the wrong side of 30 and never had a major league at-bat. Given the earlier trades this one didn't make a lot of sense.
Now this...The Braves had very few answers in the starting 8, and Simmons was one of them. Simmons has a glove that could land him in Cooperstown one day, he's relatively cheap and under team control until 2020. Essentially the Braves traded him for the #37 BA prospect who is another yet another unproven picture. Oh and a line I saw somewhere
"The Braves are trying to build around pitching and defense but they just traded away their defense."
What exactly is the Braves strategy?
