I was just wondering when the Fall catalog would show up, then it just occurred to me I never got the Summer catalog.

What the frick. I've gotten the summer catalog every year since I was 8 years old.

So I went to Amazon and bought a Carhardt backpack that I found on bps dot com.

Next year send me the catalog assholes.

You are supposed to fill in the order form and mail it in, and then a few weeks later they mail you your stuff.

I think my first order was 1986. I remember my mom helping me fill out the form.

I used to order crap from magazines and commercials all the time as a kid.

If you didn't subscribe to Zoobooks as a kid you were a frickin loser

I had Highlights magazine and the World Wildlife Federation thing where they basically send you baseball cards of animals.

And the bass pro shops catalog they always sent to my dad, that I would read cover to cover all year until the next one came out.

Rig....during the Cub Scout deal this last weekend he boys were doing their own thing so I slipped down to the lake to do some fishing...it was around 6:30 pm and I was in a cove on Lake MURRAY (similar in size to Lanier).

I'm a beginner at fishing - trying to relearn shite I knew as a kid. Anyway, there was definitely action all up and down the cove because you could see the water splashing around. I'm light by the way of gear though so I got one smallish bass on a plastic worm - which was my only action and i was as surprised as the fish when he hit it. I was thinking that a top water lure would be ideal just because of the action on the water.

Also - I saw a MONSTER under a log about 4 yards off the bank. I about hit him in the head with everything in my box - if he had a hand he'd have flipped me off.

Suggestions as far as lure/technique for these conditions? I need to gear up.

minnow, grasshopper, hot dog, and a dead bee

All on one hook.

It's called the DeepRig9.

If you're too good for live bait, then an $0.88 cent beetle spin from walmart would probably do for that kind of fishing.

Same lure would cost $19 dollars in the bass pro.

Minnows or redworms work for just about anything but catfish. Chicken livers drug across the bottom for cats.

Trust me...I'm not too good for a worm and a float. That's my mainstay. I just didn't think that work for anything other than bream - especially bass.

I don't buy expensive lures - when I'm on the bank they just end up snagged on brush anyway.
