They may be the first true serfs of the American experiment. Most X'ers who pay attention have plenty of opportunity due to retiring Boomers ...but we know how to work the system.
Many Boomer's grandparents were true serfs....share cropping is an exact duplicate of the feudal system...
"Boomers judge their worth on how many hours they spend at work.
I judge my success on whether I can live comfortably and have time to spend with my kids and family."
This is by far the greatest advancement of a single generation in the history of this nation next to the Greatest Generations moving into the modern age....
But Boomer's judge their own success and failings on their families also...when they lay their heads down on their pillows at night there are not many who lament the time they squandered away from family and toiling for the latest Volvo station wagon or BMW convertible....regret is a terrible thing and your generation has found that it is much better to look forward than to look back.
Cut the boomers some slack though...they grew up in a time of pretty serious upheaval and were raised by parents who had watched the world come periously close to coming to an end. That sort of continual stress is bound to cause some problems. They were also the first generation of people who had proof that some of the very institutions that people had trusted for many generations were based on self interest and not the good of society....Vietnam and the Civil Rights movement were both pretty bid deals....and toss in the Kennedy assasination and they came of age in a pretty tough time to be interested in finding a spouse and starting a family....

That's my philosophy in life. Balance. I live comfortably but I also don't believe in buying a bunch of stupid shite and getting myself over extended.
Amen brother...the secret to a happy life is having a small nut...."This is 40" is a pretty good movie....
We all have to much shite....Thoreau said something to the effect that you don't own a farm a farm owns you...and that is the truest statement on life that I have ever read...the freest person on earth is a homeless wino in the United States....other than a bottle of thunderbird it is possible to not want for anything....loose shoes, tight pussy and a warm place to shite (Richard Pryor)...that is the secret to happiness....
