Yeah, I figure she needs to make atleast 50% more to justify it. I just worry about that daily drive. She actually tele-commutes right now- but, she thinks she'll be asked to return (to Ohio) at some point in the near future, which we're not doing. Job market in Athens generally sucks unless you're affiliated with UGA , atleast in her field.

Like i said, customer is putting together their own deal. Takes time, big corporation. Position is created, but hr has to determine pay. They know what the number has to be.

As of now, im working from home.

Technically but I would be in their ATL office... running east coast along with England, Germany, and France.

You have to travel? I refuse to have a job that requires me to travel. I took a 50% pay cut to get with my current company 2 years ago so I could spend more time at home with my family. That shite can't be replaced man, do your best to spend as much time with your family as you can. You can't take $ with ya.

how long at a time? 5-6 doesn't sound like much on paper but in actuality it's a good bit. frick, if I wanted to travel I could retire at 40. Make sure it's worth it in the long run buddy. No one wants to he 55 laying in their death bed wishing they spent more time with their family. It happens though, . It won't happen to me.

Wife is interviewing in Atl later this month- commuting from Athens east side. Help me convince her this is bad idea.

Just explain to her about the dude you know from the internet that endured this nightmare and has since came to his senses.

Then.....tell her about the other dude you know from the internet that did the math on deeprig's 8-year commute............and figured out that a conservative number for the amount of time he spent commuting in his car over this time-span..............was about 8 months.

That's 8 months straight. SItting in a car. Twenty-four hours a day. 7 days a week....with no breaks....

Of his Life, that he'll never get back.

Deeprig, Congratulations. I'm happy for you.

Damn man...not that you give a shite but if I had a smart guy list you would've just made it. I'm right there with you.

My dad told me that regardless of all the work stuff he did...which he's proud off...when he thinks back about his favorite times they're all about family. When's the last time you saw a tombstone that said "He wished he'd worked more"?

I did Athens west side to Pleasant Hill Road area for a year and it was horrible. Can't imagine East Side all way to Atlanta. I guess as long as she leaves by 4:30 or 5 at the latest every morning it is doable. I feel worse for you than I do for her though..she's going to be hard to deal with after spending 2.5 - 3 hours in the car every single day + 8/9 hours at the office.

I'm legitimately happy for you.

I had to drive through Atlanta last Tuesday at 10 AM. It was a total clusterfrick from Canton all the way through downtown. I don't even know how it's possible to have that much traffic (with no wrecks) at 10 in the morning on a weekday.
