Nah, not exactly. I'm just saying that Dooley was averaging about 6 or 7 wins a year in his first 14. We (for whatever reason....I guess because expectations were clearly different back then) stuck with him in spite of his horrible record and, eventually, we got 1980. By today's standards, Dooley would have been fired after year 3.

UM - VD went 9 - 1 and won the SEC in year 3

he also won the SEC in year 5 - 1968, the year I was born

had 2 down years in years 6 & 7 and then went 11 - 1

the he won the SEC again in 1976 with Ray Goff - didn't we have a chance to be crowned NC if we had beat Pitt that year?

YES - he had a few BAD seasons, but back then, rebuilding years were accepted and he ALWAYS came back with strong seniors

he would not be fired, even with today's expectations - probably not even at Bama or Auburn

No, you just support a coach. The coach is not the team, and the team is not the coach. Wanting what's best for one is not the same as wanting what's best for the other.

Mostly thugs. How assuming and ignorant. The thugs make some noise but there are many more good kids. Many straight A students. Many struggling students with good families and good intentions. Don't let the few smelly apples distract you. It is absolutely true that we can pick through the barrel.

Yea the thugs unfortunately get the attention but there are a ton of players that are great off the field too and you'll never hear about it because that's not the type of stuff that gets the media attention outside of one or two quick gameday segments. A lot of these kids do way more than most fans realize.

Ummm...richt went 1301 and won the SEC in year 2

and richt won the SEC again in year 5 as well

let's tell the whole tale shall we? dooley had years of, in order, 6-4, 7-4, 5-5-1, 5-5, 7-4, 7-4-1, 6-6, 5-6, 6-5. Richt has only had 1 truly shitty year, and a few average years. Compared to dooley, who had a shite ton of them.

the frick?

he damn sure would. If the internet and social media was like it was now, back then, we'd never have 1980 and dooley wouldn't have lasted 25 years.
