I wouldn't say it was terrible. I guess if you compare him to a professional singe he was not very good, but not terrible.

I think (My opinion) that the backlash is coming because of the hype by the announcers. he wasn't nearly as good as they made it out to be, but he did a solid job. It's a tough, tough song. You have to have incredible range to sing it.

But the announcer gushed way too much over it. Shoot....have you ever heard Ashley Simpson sing at the Orange Bowl? She is a "professional" singer.....give this a listen, if you want to hear terrible.
